We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandro González Charles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alejandro, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business began with the yearning to own a company, becoming an entrepreneur and have a place where I could showcase my work such as my shorts films, and music. Aside from that, Dos Palmas Inc. also is a media production company that collaborates with other creatives. The company offers video editing, cinematography, and music production services having worked with companies such as ShortsTV and Kepo Inc.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a creative, I don’t like locking myself to one role. Throughout my career I have worn many hats some more glamorous than others. Mainly I work as a writer, director, video editor and cinematographer, but I have also produced music and acted for some projects. One of my biggest challenges, which I would say I am still battling today, is remaining patient and trusting the process. One of my proudest moments was agreeing on a licensing film for a film I wrote and directed Muerte en Paraiso with the Shorts TV Channel.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is an area that contains an abundance of things to do and places to eat and drink. Throughout my time in LA, I have developed a tendency to go to some places. For a quick bite, I enjoy going to Mike’s Deli and Pepe’s Tacos. For a good night out for drinks and food restaurants such as Kanpai and Fiesta Martin. For a chill relaxing afternoon, I would recommend going to Playa Vista on Saturdays to check out the Farmers’ Market as well as going to brunch in Culver City to visit establishments such as Cafe Vida. For further relaxation, I enjoy going to Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach. My favorite beaches in LA. It also helps I live a 20-minute drive from my two beaches. Being born in Puerto Rico, I enjoy living close to the coast and even though there are a lot of cool places in the Eastside of LA, I prefer the Westside of LA.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I recently obtained my MFA in Film and TV Production from Loyola Marymount University. The University and the people I met during my three years doing my graduate degree was a great and priceless experience. It’s not only the knowledge I obtained, but the relationships that were formed.
