We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Staying passionate. If I’m able to maintain the level of excitement and passion that I have had these past 5 years of making photos throughout the rest of my career, I will feel very successful. That, as well as, being able to say that I have continued to get uncomfortable for my art.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think one thing that sets me apart from a lot of other creatives is my background in psychology. Before I dropped out to move to LA, I was pursuing a masters degree in performance psychology. One of the biggest takeaways I have from that period of my life was learning how to stay passionate about a craft. These lessons are something I carry with me today, as my goal has always been to have passion about the work I create. I feel that, as long as I am able to continue to fall in love with photography, then everything else will work itself out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a pretty easy going person. One of my favorite things to do out here is going to the movies. We’re blessed in LA with a ton of really amazing theaters but my favorite has to be Vidiots in Eagle Rock. I’ve gotten to see some of my favorites films including “La Haine” and “Blood In Blood Out” on the big screen there. Food-wise, I’m always recommending Villa’s Tacos in Highland Park. Try a couple different tacos, grab an agua fresca, and thank me later!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am very blessed to have a father who has always showed me the importance of finding a passion, dreaming big, and not letting any doubts interfere with chasing that dream.
