We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Moritz Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a therapist, I am deeply motivated to support adolescents, adults, and couples navigate the challenges of being human! Whether one is grappling with life transitions, anxiety, or depression, I provide a grounding and therapeutic space that fosters connection, awareness, and reflection. Within this space, I challenge my clients to uncover underlying patterns and beliefs that shape certain behaviors. Through this work, I support clients in building a more meaningful life, one that aligns with their values and goals.

I am trained in the psychodynamic theory and use this lens to explore unconscious thoughts that shape current behavior. Having worked extensively with adolescents and young adults, I’ve developed an awareness of challenges unique to these years. I’ve helped my clients tackle a range of issues including crisis intervention, life transitions, and turmoil.

What should our readers know about your business?
Central to my work is a commitment to empathy and individualized care. I do not believe that therapy is a one-size-fits-all and therefore, I create a therapeutic experience tailored to you. Asking for help is hard! I appreciate anyone interested in taking the next step to learn more about therapy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My ideal day begins with a hike at Los Leones in Pacific Palisades followed by lunch at Gjusta in Venice with some friends. A walk down Abbot Kinney and popping into some stores is always a nice way to walk off lunch. I would end the day with an early dinner at Malibu Seafood, picking up a bottle of wine at Vin on Rose, and then driving down PCH as the sun begins to set.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
After a career in the fashion industry, I felt that I was ready for a change. I was looking to go back to school and commit to exploring my interest in psychology. My boyfriend at the time, now husband, provided me the security and support to take a risk and go back to school. I would like to shout out my husband, Simon Brooks, for consistently believing in my dreams and providing me with the space, guiding voice, and compassion to get my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and now begin my practice working with adolescents and adults in Los Angeles.
