We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Oglesby and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, how do you define success?
The definition of success really depends on how you see it. The scale of peoples lives can be different than others, altogether leading to a different success story. I can see success as being defined in multiple ways. When you realize that you are at a point where you have made an impact of the industry that you are in. Although, success can be measured in many different ways, for example someone might have a dream of buying an RV, so once they get their RV they will have been successful. Success is when the air hits your face and you can just enjoy it, because you know everything else is in place. Success is when you reach a point where you are altogether happy and feel fulfilled when you fall asleep at night. Success can also be when you reach the Billboard Top 100, or when she finally says yes to that date. Success is what you make of it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an actor you be able to overcome obstacles, limits must be pushed, and team work needs to be incorporated, and most importantly you must be prepared. These skills all working at once can be stressful and overwhelming for a person.

All artists may have their own perspective of Art. Being the actor I am, I define art to be when someone appreciates something that someone made, a painting, a piece of music, for me a perfect scene. If I can make someone laugh, cry, or feel some sort of feeling then I will know I did my job.

As someone who often has multiple things going on in my head, I find a specialty in maintaining a certain image while also keeping in mind several other components.

What sets me apart of others is not only the shear amount of energy and physicality that I bring on set, but also my attitude and personality supports me in a very important way. Being able to discuss with others their ideas and perspectives can be useful in order to connect with the cast and crew of a project, and form a team.

Connecting with your other actors can be work, but if you have a cast that is dedicated and puts in the work as much as you do, the work flows smoothly and effectively.

I provide an offbeat comedic energy when I want to be funny, A serious and internal thought processing mind when I feel a scene is dramatic, A frantically real face of terror, cocky man, villain characters with the worst intentions, all of the above

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Among the many things there are to partake in in this City, I have narrowed it down to a few of my favorites in which you can make your own memories.

Starting with a stroll on the boardwalk as well as the Venice canals. Venice provides another entire vibe, with pickleball courts, an outdoor gym, and plenty of places to get a snack, I enjoy taking my friends and family here because there is always something to see. Whether it be skateboarders doing tricks during sunset, or a surfer catching a massive wave in the pacific.

Next, we might go to get some fine dining. In this case, I like to recommend an upbeat Mexican Cantina and Grill called Mr. Tempo located on the classic Hollywood Blvd. Whilst waiting for your reservation you can take a walk through all the souvenir shops and look down because you will be standing on The walk of Fame! With your favorite movie stars embroidered underneath your very feet.

The Hollywood Reservoir is a perfect place to take your friends and family when they are visiting, or if you just need some nature in your life, the Hollywood Reservoir provides a perfect, quiet environment in which you can enjoy the outdoors and be alone with your thoughts… that is if you choose to go alone! The Hollywood Reservoir can be a great place to take a family photo or send a selfie to your loved one.

And finally we can end the day off with a casual drink and a rooftop cinema. With gorgeous views of LA, enjoy some fresh popcorn and cuddle up next to your spouse while enjoying your favorite movie! But if you are still hungry after that, you can always take a walk to the Grand Central Market located in downtown LA. With food options from all over the world, you will definitely have a hard time deciding what to eat here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicated to the people of Los Angeles, may we continue to grow in our effort to get a piece of the pie. For the motivation and the straight inspiration that we bring to the people around us, whether it be your coworkers at a restaurant, a random stranger at a concert, or a person that gives you the parking spot instead of taking it themselves. May we all continue to thrive and learn our way through this journey that we call life.
