We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Huntley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexander, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Having fun. The reason that I have such a huge drive and don’t lose interest in my work is because I always have fun with it. I feel like it is so easy to find the bad in things and to complain about your job and only keep your eyes on the payout, which don’t get me wrong I have had many of those jobs, but finding something that I fall in love with every day and turning that into my career/dream was the best decision. I am so fortunate to have found an outlet that excites me and keeps me passionate. Having fun is the foundation that I have laid to build my drive, work ethic, skills, and dedication into a sturdy and solid work life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always joke to people that I am good at a lot of things, but not amazing at one single thing. This always gets a good chuckle, but what holds true is the fact that I want to do everything, and too many things. I collect new passions and skills each year, and have found work as an actor, dancer, musician, and writer. I would say the thing that sets me apart is my unhinged humour and attitude. I definitely think I have a very distinct personality that always makes a mark on everything I do, as well as my homour that haunts my every waking step. Having a South African accent also turns some heads, so that’s really cute. It has definitely been a journey full of hoops and hurdles but it builds character and makes you more interesting. My character arc and unhinged personality IS my brand.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love showing friends around the LA area; it’s actually kind of embarrassing. If they’re an active and outdoorsy friend, I would take them on one of several stunning hikes around the city. However if it’s one of my friends that will perish at the thought of physical activity, then food is a great outlet. I really enjoy Sage bistro, Sugar Taco, all the hole in the wall thai restaurants, and the staple, Veggie Grill. The beach is a must every time. I personally enjoy Playa Del Rey because the waves will literally send you to the 9th dimension. If there is nothing else to do, I definitely suggest Randonauting. It’s an app that takes you to random locations so you can visit places you never would have thought to go.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe a lot of my success to my closest friends and fellow artists, Fadeke Oparinde, Jodi Marks, Kong Vang, and Nicholas Chambers. I also am incredibly thankful for my incredibly talented partner, Daisy.
