We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexander Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexander, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to pursue an artistic career because art is a powerful way to bring change to the world. In everything I do I bring love, progression, unity, and inspiration for future generations. Every body of work, I really put my all into it. I do a lot of activism, progressive ideas, and brand building for black owned businesses. I try to give back in everything I do, in some way. I feel it’s all of our duties to help bring change and unity to this world. Being artistic has helped me do so in my own creative ways.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is that I go from being behind the camera to being in front. I set up my own photoshoots, I direct them, and model in them. I help organize music videos as well. I do every little detail that isn’t tech (things I’m not good at). I’m very much the organizer to everything I do. What also sets me apart is that no one is doing the art I’m doing. You can look at my resume. There’s no one doing anything I’m doing. Especially the activism I’m doing. I want the world to know this generation is different, and I’m a voice. I’m only 25 but I promise you we’re going to make a change in this world. My whole teams mission is to bring change and progression. Our goals go so much deeper then just to make money. For me, it’s about going back to Brazil and helping the kids in the orphanages. I was adopted from there. Malnourished at a run down orphanage. Some people on my team have family in Puerto Rico and are trying to help them. We have families in Mexico as well. Some of us aren’t from the best communities in America, so we’re trying to build those up as well. Everyone’s goals on my team run so much deeper then just fame, money, and success. It’s about restoring our people from the ground up. We will be the ones to do it and we won’t take no for an answer. Getting well spiritually, physically, and mentally is all important to everyone’s progress. No matter what you’re doing. Lastly, what sets me apart is I manage 4 of the most creative, talented, and inspiring Artists/groups. Ghost&legends, DaBunni, and $w33tz. I expect them all to get signed or be successful independently. They’re all ridiculously talented on stage as well. I’d put my team against the world. It’s not cockiness, it’s just we’ve all put the time, effort, and love into what we do. We’re different. The collective is The Last Dragons and I promise you’re going to hear about us.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For sushi: Tokoro in South Pasadena. For Vegan: My Vegan Gold or Montys Burgers, Little Pine.
Thai Food: Siacha Siam in Highland Park
For beaches: Hermosa Beach or Rosies dog beach in Long Beach (where we do our yoga)
Drinks: Anywhere in Echo Park. Short stop, Little Joy, Bar Flores, and The Holloway are my spots in the hood. Echo Park is the best place to go out. Best people and best vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to S/O my whole team. “The Last Dragons”. I would like to S/O whipple (a dear friend who passed). I would like to S/O the whole 641 as well! Lastly I would like to S/O the ancestors Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Fred Hampton, Kobe, Jim Morrison, and Nipsey. All huge inspirations to me and all helped shape me into the man I am today.
