We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra & Nicolas Aulagner Cohen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra & Nicolas, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking has always been in our daily life, Nicolas (Sad Amish) gave up everything for tattooing, before he had a career as a dental technician; and his wife (Alexandra) at the end of her law studies she also left everything behind in management and ebusiness by joining Sad Amish’s project as an artist. Risks were taken to allow the creation of a united team in life and at work. So give up everything to come and live in the United-States, was to live our dream, come closer to our customers, consolidate business and life projects. Taking risks ultimately means giving yourself the means to move forward to get what you are looking for and not be paralyzed by fear or dread of failure. If we give ourselves the means to accomplish this, the “risk” will pay off sooner or later.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Sad Amish has become famous for the characters he draws. These characters with fine lines, and lots of details. He has a style close to a comic book style transcribed on bodies thanks to the tattoo. The part that makes us most proud is being able to bring the project people have and the character they imagine to life. With collaboration and communication with clients, and the friendly atmosphere between the development of the project with Alexandra and the subsequent realization with Nicolas.
The road has not been easy, it’s been a lot of work all those years, hours of drawing, creating and meeting awesome people with lots of artists and clients who are awesome. The hardest part has been in recent months with the arrival of COVID, the inability for us to come to the United States when we should have and our customers who could no longer travel, but we have continued to be positive to overcome this ordeal.
We understood that nothing can ever be taken for granted, that moving forward as a duo has made us stronger, and that we always have to find solutions to get things done.
We would like the world to know that at our level we are doing everything to share love and creativity, hoping that this can inspire others to be in this positive process.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We will bring them for sure to surf in Malibu and San Clemente, visit Griffith Park, go to see the Hollywood sign, check out what’s cool on Fever Up App, eat raw seafood at Water Grill Santa Monica drinking white wine. Doing a wonderful french breakfast with the best croissant and bakery in LaChouquette in Hollywood. Trying the best mexican restaurants around, rent a cabriolet car and take the road 1 to go up to San Francisco, stop to the seal beach, and stop in Monterey, do some wine tasting in Santa Barbara. To have fun maybe spend 2 days in Vegas, and go to Antelope Canyon and to the Death Valley. And of course a lot more things, the area is huge with a lot of beautiful and unique places to visit.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to thank all the customers who have traveled and all those who have supported us. Our family and friends who have contributed to our success, and of course all the people, brands and companies who show their support on a daily basis.
