We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandra Saidac and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexandra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I run my own company Gypsy On A Horse where I help humans understand horses better and help them build a real relationship with horses instead of just dominating them and get them to perform the task at hand. I teach people how to make the horse want to do the task at hand and actually enjoy it instead of making them by force.
I saw a huge void in the equestrian world when it comes to true connection with the horse. We always ask horses to do these great tasks with very little consideration to the horse. As a polo player myself I found myself always advocating for the horses and because of the void of understanding between human and horse it’s now my profession and im never out of work!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I teach people a new way of being around the horses that also the benefits the horse. Whether you are a Olympian show jumper, dressage rider, polo player, horse fanatic or a beginner – Anybody can benefit from these tools. It’s truly incredible to let go of what you know about horses and find true connection and be able to ride a 1000 lbs animal without a saddle or bridle!
I also run Gypsy On A Horse Podcast where I help people get through their issues with horses and connect equestrians from all over the world. You can listen here: https://open.spotify.
I recently started “Horse Medicine retreat” in Topanga Canyon where I help people reset their nervous systems through the horse and work through stored trauma and stresses in the body. The next retreat will be in Sep.
But my heart is in the fight for the wild horses that are getting killed for land. I’m a Wild horse advocate for The Wild Beauty Foundation.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would bring them to my little ranch. Barbeque at my house and take them for a horseback ride in the mountains overlooking the ocean and then go to the beach and just hang out.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Rodney Franks is the person in my life that motivates me and inspires me the most. He always pushes me to move forward and strive for better just by being around him. He started LEVERAGE-X.com and are always working on important issues like saving the gorillas in Africa.
And last but not least Lakota Spiritual leader Warfield Moose Jr who is like my uncle, my mentor and guides me through life. He runs Mita Oyate Cultural Society and helps keeping the Lakota culture and language alive with his beautiful teachings.
