We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexandria Geringer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexandria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have always viewed myself as someone that is creative. Living outside the box is where the evolution of yourself lies. I believe risk has gotten me to where I am today. I left a more conventional life to pursue my love for Yoga while I was in college. The leap that I took by doing this was the reason that everything else fell into place. Living outside your comfort zone gets more comfortable the more that you do it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Yoga Instructor and Wellness Entrepreneur. I have so many passions and loves for all things wellness related. I first started my journey in 2009 when I was on a mission to physically, mentally, and emotionally improve my being. Growing up, I always was taught about quality of food and alternative medicines. I grew up playing sports and being quite active. Along the way my body felt like it needed a reset, so I found an alternative doctor that inspired me to take my first Yoga class. After the first class I was totally hooked. Something shifted in me, not just physically but I felt more connected and at peace in myself. I kept craving to get on my mat more and more. I took a leap into my first Yoga Teacher Training program to be around mindful people and to learn more about this practice that changed me. As I continued to learn and dive deeper into the practice, I realized that so many aspects of wellness were things I gravitated towards when I was younger too. (I have books on Chakras, meditation cards, stones, and cookbooks) These things that had been engraved in my life for so long were the reasons I explored Reiki, sound healing, meditation, essential oils, and cooking. It wasn’t always easy to choose a path that most deemed untraditional. I’ve had moments of challenge along the way. But every time I have the privilege of teaching or practicing one of these modalities, I’m reminded of how much healing it has brought me. I feel so fortunate to be able to share and hopefully hold space for others to heal as well. I see my brand as a wellness platform. It is my goal to use different modalities of wellness like puzzle pieces in peoples lives to uniquely help the healing process for them.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is a melting pot of culture and activities!

A day in Downtown Los Angeles; visit The Broad Museum for some spectacular art, grab a drink at The NoMad Hotel, and then head over to The Arts District to Beval for mind-blowing Middle Eastern food.

A day on the Coast; wake up for a sunrise walk along Malibu beach, find a beautiful sandy spot for beach Yoga on the shore, grab a breakfast burrito from Country Kitchen, and for a pick me up, grab the best coffee of your life at Funnel Mill in Santa Monica.

Begin and end each day outdoors with mindfulness; Yoga, meditation, or a walk to enjoy the fresh air.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people to thank! I am where I am because of the support and love I’ve experienced along the way.

To Dr. Cynthia Costa for inspiring me on my wellness path
To Govindas for introducing me to the heart of Yoga
To my parents Marian and Richard Geringer for always supporting my love for Yoga and Wellness.
To my boyfriend Casey Schwartz for reminding me to always think big and to trust in myself.

To the many other people and studios who stood and continue to stand by me on this journey.
