We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexzander Hershel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexzander, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I personally feel that the most important habit that I’ve established is being persistent in my relationship with GOD who has been and shown his presence to be absolutely ubiquitous in my life. Most or if not, all things that have happen for my career been just in divine timing been wither it’s been opportunities such as being featured on The Hype Season 2 or different opportunities to design for different artists etc. In example I was previously solely doing music thanks to We Are The Culture Creators I booked to open up for Doja Cat in 2019 and basically we bumped into each other after her set. That lead to us connecting I sent some pieces one specially from a brand I was working with at the time. She wore it a lot and showed love which led to beginning me becoming recognized in fashion/style space shout to Lydia as well but just a single example of divine timing In short GOD, Timing and doing the work & doing my best to lead in light. S/O my mom, Miguel, Cleo, Natalia, Fay and all the people who contributing to my space in a positive way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like what sets me a part is my relationship with GOD and the way that intersects with my relationship with my art, heart and convictions. Really back to my 1st answer which is timing and my growing appreciation of that. Everything I do I keep the culture in mind because I’m rooted in that coming Detroit 6 mile and that helping grow into who I am. I represent that and appreciate everything my upbringing exposed me to and how that’s transcended into my identity brand and life that I’ve grateful for. There were adversities when I was pursuing my career as a creative in Detroit I was a part of a small sub-culture of eclectic creatives I was different from a lot of them because of my upbringing being from where I was from so I was this middle child artsy people also being connected to being from Eastside. I was kind of loner, and I had some issues really connecting with the city at 1st because I was just different in way that was maybe a lot to process. When I 1st moved to LA I was struggling I had opportunities, but I wasn’t making consistent money, so I had to work at pizza place I got fired in two weeks I was actually surviving on shift pizzas after moving to my new apartment and everybody knows about la/ny rent. I got fired from there for wearing black matte almost denim looking leather at place with no dress code which was the best thing that ever happened to me . I ended going to on to work Flamingos vintage and I just flourished there, and good things happened for me. Met so many people because I’m not super into pop culture I met people who I didn’t realize where doing certain things and built genuine repours with and that was that. I opened showroom space for a few months on melrose I got casted for the hype that February and realized I needed to put that in back pocket for a later time and I went to do more stuff. I want the world to know from my brand story that anything is possible through GOD and being the most authentic form of yourslef and creating from that place. Do things from inspiration not desperation and be the love you want to see. I cant say it was easy but it’s all in GOD’S timing so it’s good.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
