We had the good fortune of connecting with Alia Adel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alia, every day, we think about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I love organizing my own home and especially my closet, I would redo and organize my closet every 3 to 6 months and I slowly started doing it to my friends closets for fun until I realized how much joy it brought me. So when I got laid off from my designer job in the fashion industry I decided I wanted to pursue this organizing idea and create a career out of it. I wanted a job and a career that was fulfilling to me and being a designer didn’t exactly do that unfortunately, so I created The Styled Stories- A home organizing business.

I chose the name ” The Styled Stories” because every home has a story hiding behind the clutter and I want to help tell it.

The Styled Stories gives me the fulfillment I’ve been looking for. The joy I experience with working with all my clients and seeing how excited they get about their homes is everything I’ve ever wanted and more.

What should our readers know about your business?

The Styled Stories is a Home organizing business based in Los Angeles , CA. I pretty much organize everything and anything in the home, closets, bathrooms, kitchens, garages, kids playrooms, you name it and I’ll organize it. I also help with redesigning closets and redecorating and styling your home.

I think what sets The Styled Stories apart from other organizing businesses is it’s all about connecting with my clients, it’s about their story and how I can tell it through their home. It’s creating this trust and safe space between me and my clients where there is no judgement no matter how messy or cluttered the space is. It’s focusing on the little details and making sure everyone in the household feels heard and seen especially kids and pets! I call them my tiny clients. I love creating special moments and spaces for everyone in the house to enjoy, either together or separately everyone gets to be apart of the story.

What I am most proud of? I am most proud of how far this small business has come, especially considering it started in the middle of  the pandemic. All the work I’ve put in and continue to put in paid off and continues to pay off. I’m proud of the community I built through this business and all the relationships and clients I’ve made along the way. I have big big dreams for The Styled Stories and I’m so excited to see them all come true, some are already in the works!

I know this will sound cheesy but I got to where I am today with determination, this wasn’t a hobby I was starting or a plan B. It was the only plan and failure was not an option. This obviously adds a lot of pressure but it helped motivate me to get up every morning and work on my business even when I had no clients and was making no money. And it was not easy. Anyone who tells you it’s easy to start a new business is simply lying. It’s a lot of work, it takes a lot of time , energy and it gets to you, there are good days and bad days, it’s a roller coaster but as long as you stay focused on your vision and stick to who you are all the other pieces will fall right in place.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way? oof a few honestly!

1. Don’t compare your journey and timeline with someone else’s. Take your time, you will get there, it’s not a race.

2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and ask questions, it’s ok to not know it all.
3. Set your boundaries, you will not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s ok.
4. Find your community and support system and lean on them.
5. Don’t give up, don’t be discouraged, just push through and keep going, it always works out in the end.

What do I want the world to know about me and The Styled Stories? The Styled Stories is much more than an organizing business, it’s truly a life transformation. and what do I want the world to know about me? Well to just remember the name Alia Adel and The Styled Stories. We’ll organize your homes one way or the other, maybe in person or maybe even through your TV perhaps? 😉

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to a few people actually. Starting of with The Forward Female, a coaching and creative agency that I’ve worked with and currently a member of their accountability club. The Styled Stories would not have been what it is now if it wasn’t for the help, support and encouragement of The Forward Female.

My friends and family without all their support and encouragement I wouldn’t have kicked started this and kept going.
and lastly The Forward Female Accountability club- the best group of women anyone could ask for, they keep me accountable, focused and inspire me everyday.
