We had the good fortune of connecting with Alice Liang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alice, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
There is an old saying: the only constant is change. When things change in life, uncertainty follows. We often see uncertainty as risk. We can either passively wait for change or actively make change happen, which is also seen as risk-taking. I view risk as an essential component of growth, integral to both my personal and professional life.

I came to the US from China for school by myself and then decided to stay here. Before pursuing my career in oriental medicine, I started a surrogacy agency business. Later, I became an acupuncturist and eventually discovered my passion for using Chinese herbs in skincare. When I launched LÖVVE BEAUTY, I knew there was a risk involved in entering a competitive market, but my passion for natural skincare and belief in the quality of my products gave me the confidence to take that leap.

From all my experiences, I have found the fine balance between comfort and danger. Taking risks has allowed me to learn, adapt, and ultimately grow into who I am today.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LÖVVE BEAUTY is dedicated to providing high-quality, natural skincare products that promote healthy, radiant skin. What sets us apart is our commitment to using unrefined ingredients and a holistic skincare approach, creating a harmonious environment for the skin. This is especially beneficial for those struggling with issues like acne, dryness, and sensitivity. Additionally, we focus on sustainability. Our products are handcrafted with love, drawing from traditional remedies and modern science to create effective skincare solutions.

The journey to where we are today was certainly not easy. There were countless challenges, from sourcing the right ingredients to countless experiments to perfect the formula, to building a loyal customer base. However, perseverance, passion, and a clear vision helped us overcome these obstacles. One key lesson I’ve learned is to stay true to your values.

I am a big believer in eating unprocessed, wholesome foods based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles. I apply the same philosophy to skincare. I use unrefined botanical oils as major ingredients, which means they are not chemically processed and retain their original color and scents. This provides the skin with the purest and most beneficial elements. For example, acai berry oil and passion fruit oils are wild-harvested in Brazil, and our supplier focuses on sustainability and fair treatment of harvesters and farmers.

The Chinese herbs I use in the products are adapted from an ancient formula for the skin, ensuring authenticity. Our herbal supplier has been serving TCM clinics for over three decades. There are no artificial colors or perfumes added to any of my skincare products. What you see and smell in the product is the unique combination of all-natural ingredients.

In a world where complex skincare routines and ingredients have become the norm, LÖVVE BEAUTY advocates for a holistic, simple, and effective approach. I hope LÖVVE BEAUTY can be the skincare brand people trust to help their skin return to a balanced, harmonious, and healthy state.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow, there are so many places to show her, lol.

Aside from the famous tourist spots like Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica Pier, I’d love to take her to some of my personal favorites.

For example, a morning hike on one of the trails in Malibu followed by brunch at Nobu Malibu, then a drive along the PCH. We could visit the Getty Villa as well.

In the afternoon, we could hike along the Lake Hollywood Reservoir walking trail and have dinner at Yamashiro Hollywood to enjoy the night view of LA.

A walk along Laguna Beach, shopping at local boutique stores, and lunch at Montage Laguna Beach would be delightful.

Of course, we can’t miss the nighttime fireworks at Disneyland and a visit to Universal Studios.

Success is never a solo journey, and I am deeply grateful for the incredible support I’ve received along the way from family and friends. I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my family, whose unconditional love and support has been my foundation. Special recognition goes to my mom, who inspired my love for natural healing and skincare. I also want to thank my husband; he has helped and supported me at all my pop-up events on the weekends. I couldn’t do this without him. I’d also like to thank my inspiring female friends, Quinnie and Mija, who always share their love for LÖVVE BEAUTY with people. Their wisdom and support have been invaluable.
