Meet Alicia Gakima | Filmmaker, Actor, Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alicia Gakima and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alicia, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
If you can imagine yourself still living a fulfilling life without the dreams you want to manifest, then it’s okay to give it up. There’s still plenty of things you can do that would bring you fulfillment. But if your desire for your dreams to be your reality is a constant voice in your head and heart no matter how much you want to give up, no matter how unfavorable your circumstances are, then you should not give up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My content doesn’t fit in one particular genre. I love the freedom of being able to create anything I’m interested in at that moment. I will say my current content falls into the horror and comedic genres. I’m currently working on a new horror film idea. I can’t wait to start shooting this project. I’ve gotten to where I am now by just doing exactly what I said I would do. A lot of people speak about what they want to do, but don’t put action behind it. It’s not easy and there’s a lot of rejection that comes with it, but if you believe in what you’re creating and you have the courage to put yourself out there, your chances of things working out for you are far greater than if you just decided not to try at all. I’ve learned that you have to do what you want to do. It’s good to get advice and opinions on your goals, but ultimately only you know what will work for you. You’re unique in the way you think and execute your creativity. There’s a place for your unique talents. I want the world to know that you’re more than capable of making your dreams come true. Don’t worry too much about how everything is going to play out. Take care of what you physically can take care of and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in yourself!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to dinner at LaLa’s Argentine Grill, Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen(Best Charcoal Lemonade!), El Matador Beach in Malibu(The view is immaculate), Amapiano night at Catch One, Sunken City in San Pedro, and Baba Ghanooj(Amazing Mediterranean food. )
