We had the good fortune of connecting with Aliice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aliice, what role has risk played in your life or career?
First of all thrilled to be answering questions for Voyage LA again! Risks have formed a key part of my career as a singer and voice actor and usually the bigger I’ve bet on myself, the bigger the turn out, or if it ended up blowing up in my face, the learning experience was priceless!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
well, easy is definitely not a word i would use haha. It has been a long bumpy road but i’ve loved every bump and wouldn’t change a single thing. Every step got me where i am today. I try to be true to myself as a human more than to myself as a singer, and respect the fact that i have fears and many sides; i get angry, nervous, sad, euphorically happy, goofy, sexy etc and i write from all those angles, none of us are simply one thing and i love making that evident. And by doing so, i don’t allow anyone to put me in a box or category because i’ve dipped my toes comfortably in many waters and i love being a chameleon when it comes to character creating. If i had to use one word to describe my work it would be Empowering, always pushing myself (and hopefully others) to be brave and move forward regardless of fear or doubt.
My music has been a key part of the soundtrack to the new hot Telemundo show “100 dias para enamorarnos” and it has brought forth so much light and love from the young LGBT community for the scenes where it has been placed and i would love to mention it in the interview or do a separate piece with you!, to speak of the importance of these scenes in popular mainstream shows to promote the notion of love is love and normalcy and how meaningful it is for me as a huge supporter to be a part of the movement through the licensing of my music and message.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
mmm well, i am a big fan of food, so there would be a lot of that and then tons of working out the week after to pay for my sins haha I love spending time with friends at my apartment, drinking good wine and showing each other good music. But after all that was said and done i would take them to Korean BBQ and then Somi Somi ice cream in K town. Farmer’s Market on 3rd would also be a must! and a stop by Bob’s doughnuts, a classic! Then on a Monday night we would go to the Sofitel hotel for Jazz night, always a fantastic crowd and vibe there! And hopefully sing with the band and be part of the jam (they have invited me before and it’s a blast! the band has mad skills!) A stop by the Comedy Store would also be the best night out followed by Stella barra pizza and cocktails. I could go on haha

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am a strong believer in tough love when it’s delivered correctly, so I won’t just name one person, I will go ahead and give a shoutout to everyone from my past and future who told it to me like it is, firmly and with love, to help me make the most of my abilities to get where i want in life. And like someone i love very much told me once: Be firm and brave so you don’t become the shadow of the woman you could become.
