We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Sieh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alison, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Through Virtual Charity Trivia we’ve been able to bring people together in a safe way but still allow people to have fun. We’re also able to highlight a new organization each week to bring awareness to what other members of our community are doing for others. It is amazing what we’re able to accomplish when we work together!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
By day I am a Director of Music at Aspect. We’re a creative arts agency that specializing in making trailers for movies, streaming shows, video games and more. I head up an amazing music team that helps find the music you hear in trailers. It’s definitely been an uphill battle to get to where I am now but it’s proof that hard work and perseverance can pay off. I started as an intern for many years in reality tv and eventually found this niche of the industry in trailers and worked my way up to leading my own department. Every day brings about new lessons. Learning to have ownership of your role, learning to acknowledge mistakes or be open to constructive criticism, learning to find your voice in a room that maybe feels like it’s not ready to hear it. This past year has been a lot of re-evaluating priorities on life and setting appropriate boundaries so that you can have a work-life balance. Despite having over a decade of experience in the entertainment industry you never stop learning, growing and bettering your skills.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ooh favorite spots in the city is a tough one. Especially since i’ve spent the last year living in my house. We’d of course have to throw some brunches in there – i’m a big fan of The Front Yard in Studio City but there are so many great places to brunch. We’d probably have to fit in a few Bar Method classes. If there was an amazing show at the Hollywood Bowl or even better The Greek, we’d definitely be hitting that up! We’d have to do some pampering of course. I love getting nail art from the amazing Tonia at Josephine’s Nail Spa and massages at The Massage Place in Sherman Oaks or Encino. Or we could make of day of it and hit up Wi Spa for a day of relaxing.

A hike might be fun – even just a quick Fryman Canyon walk. I’d definitely be peeking around to see if there was a fun show happening. Maybe a fun group at UCB or a Q&A experience at the Arclight etc.

Then of course we’d have to do dinner somewhere. I’ve been really enjoying the back room at Vitello’s in Studio City called The Rendition Room. Not sure if it’s open these days but they have the best food and cocktails.

Lastly we’d have to get some dessert – maybe milkshakes at McConnells or one of my favorite places Cookie Dough Dreams for edible cookie dough in Burbank.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout to my good friend Nicole Luebbe Sherman! She and I met in our choir the Angeles Chorale. We both serve on the non-profit board and head up the fundraising committee. She is always down to do things for others and really believes in giving back. Without her VCT wouldn’t be nearly as successful and fun!
