We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ally, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To be honest I wasn’t sure if I wanted to own my own business. I always loved doing makeup and hair. I started working for another bridal makeup company and from there decided to start my own business, I started to get the most amazing clients and have been in this industry now for 8 years. I don’t believe I would actually have my own business if it wasn’t something I loved doing! I love being able to make my own schedule and having my own clients. It’s been the absolute best.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I always grew up loving applying makeup to my cousins and friends. I always said I would either want to be a makeup artist or hair stylist. Unfortunately I always thought I couldn’t make money from it so I just worked in an office. To be honest as a creative person this was not great for me! I decided to go to makeup school and I’m so glad I did. It took time to build clients, I work mostly in the wedding industry so there can be a lot of pressure as it is one of the most important days of brides lives! I I have learned that you can’t impress everyone, I used to overthink and l want everyone to be happy but unfortunately it’s not realistic. All I can do is try my best! My company is one of the most important things to be in my life, I want each client to feel so special and the most beautiful. That’s the best part of my job!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living near Vancouver there are endless things to do! One of my favourite things to do is hiking so I would definitely recommend a hike. We would go for drinks, I personally love Ventura Room. For dinner I would probably choose one of the many sushi places! We have the best sushi in Van. Also, walking or biking the sea wall is amazing in the summertime!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of my best friends is also in the industry and honestly I don’t think I would be where I am without her encouragement! It’s been so nice to be able to have open discussions with no judgement. Owning a business isn’t always easy so I wouldn’t be where I am without her! I also wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my fiancé, working most weekends can be difficult but he is always supportive and encourages me to do my best always!
