We had the good fortune of connecting with Alondra Vazquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alondra, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is probably one of the best quality traits I have. It has always put me in uncomfortable situations and when you’re in an uncomfortable situation there’s always a lesson to be learned and a new skill to gain.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I got a street wear clothing brand called “Pulkritude”, it means beauty. My mission with this brand is to help man kind define and shine their beauty within one self. When I tell people the name of my clothing brand they typically never know what it means which will make a curious mind go look it up. Come to find out it means beauty – in English. The purpose of the unusual name is so that you can dig deeper to find the true meaning of it and I feel like same with yourself you got to dig deeper to find the true meaning of yourself which is really the beauty within yourself. I started this business at first because I was tired of working for someone else and I always knew I was capable of more and with all the experiences I’ve experienced in life and the things I was exposed to you couldn’t keep me locked in to one job for more than a year. I feel like we live in a society/culture of straight judging ourselves and others based off of appearances, lifestyles, net worth, titles and more. Living in a society where we’re always seeking validation, approval, love, beauty from external things/ people consciously and subconsciously, I believe that we need to start looking inward to find that beauty, wholeness and love within one self. I also have always been influenced by the late 90s/ early 2000s hip hop culture like the fashion, dance moves, and music. I wanted to create something where I can help others and fulfill my passion at the same time. Pulkritude is a hip hop clothing brand with a purpose of helping you shine the beauty within yourself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to some cool hiking trails, networking events if they’re creatives like myself, taco trucks in LA for some real authentic tacos. I don’t really be doing too much tho tbh so I can’t list too many things to do but if you with me just know you gone have a good time period.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother fasho. Her support and belief in my dreams is unexpectedly a huge blessing for me. My father’s work ethic as well. My father was always a entrepreneur so he always continuously and subconsciously planted seeds in me to be my own boss. Back in the day I would never take his advice and wisdom seriously but now I realized he was always tryna teach me about Ownership, Law of Attraction, Financial Literacy, and always having faith in God. I also have a lot of people I turn to whenever I need some guidance like Nipsey Hussle, Joe Dispenza, Jay Shetty, Jay Z, Tupac, Kanye, Big Sean, Les Brown, Hindz, Tony Robbins, Steve Harvey, Warren Buffet, Oprah, I can keep going.
Nipsey Hussle tho is a huge model and influence in my life. Since his passing he has made me realize a lot of things unfortunately and fortunately that I already knew throughout the years that I had forgoten and so much I was taking for granted for example life itself.
I used to also never read but Nip put me on to reading so I started reading books like “Think and Grow Rich”, “The Way of a Superior Man”, “48 laws of Power”, I recommend them all. Big Sean also put me onto “Becoming Supernatural” by Joe Dispenza and let me tell you that book gave me sooo much insight and understanding of myself, others, and life. It gave me so much awareness that I was recommending everyone in my circle to read that book giving them no excuse not to read it like if you ain’t got it you can have mine or I’ll buy it for you but you gone read it period. That’s another book I recommend heavy and if you ain’t got time to read for whatever reason or you have trouble sitting for a long period of time. Get you the audible version, listen to these books on your way to work and from work, while you walking yo dog, getting your children ready for school, cleaning the crib, organizing, whatever. I’m so adamant about reading that book because it helps you with your consciousness and spiritual journey. It was the start of my spiritual awakening and I want everyone to experience that.
