We had the good fortune of connecting with Alpha Patron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alpha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk Taking to me is a doubled-ended blessing. As a shy introverted first generational African American kid growing up in the suburbs, I never really knew who I truly was and my purpose. I molded into being a product of my environment by pursuing a career and life that I wasn’t even 50 percent on board with in terms of my satisfaction. For me to jump off the cliff and take the risk of pursuing one of the hardest careers, not only gave me the lucrative confidence and needs that helped me, but it helped to shape me as a person and inspire others through the process that anything is possible.

If I had never would took the risk of dropping everything and pursuing music, I never would have been fully confident in myself and would have stayed in the boat of comfortability for a really long time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is a reflection of me, the life I live, the things I’ve experienced, the things that I have seen. As an African American who grew up with different music from gospel to Caribbean, reggae, and African. I pride myself in fusioning all the elements of music that I grew up with and resonate with.

My favorite thing about being an artist is the entertainment side, I love performing, I love being on stage, concerts, and all that. I feel the most like myself on stage, I feel the most safe and joyful. One of my proudest moments from this year so FAR, was headlining a concert at the legendary “peppermint club” in Beverly Hills and having a great turnout with the crowd. But even greater moments is seeing the arrays of emotions from fans/spectators who simply just “feel” by attending my concert or listening to my music. Whether they feel comforted, groovy, happy, and all that.

I got to where I got professionally through hard work and consistency, but most importantly consistency. Consistency with my fans, content, and consistency with being authentically myself. Believing in myself, waking up in the morning and seeing my future, seeing where I want to be and simply going after it, like it was in an arms length away from me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to Griffith Park for sure, Manhattan Beach, the Grove, and The Getty. Places that are very artsy and scenic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Pastor Mike Todd encouraged me through his series called “Crazy Faith”, which highlighted the God-given desires that are intentionally placed in your heart. This series encouraged me to jump off the boat of comfortability and people satisfaction to pursue what I was called to do on this Earth. By pursuing this dream, it gave me the most peace that I’ve ever had just because it was ordained, even though outside looking in it put me in a hole financially. I have peace that it will all be worth it and all a part of the journey.

This series also encouraged me that everything I need is in my hands, to stop looking at the resources and connections I don’t have, and to steward the resources and connections I have right now to turn them into something bigger than me.
