We had the good fortune of connecting with Alwayne Spencer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alwayne, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success is the ability to evolve through every season of life effectively while adapting to change. Success is found when we can soar in spite of life’s challenges. It is about seizing the opportunities to do good and perfect that gift, packaged in a moment. In the current state of human thought, I think that success is often viewed through the lens of high social media engagement, the number of followers a person has, how deep one’s pockets can be, and the materialistic list can go on… However, absent of all of that, success, to me, looks like having peace within. When we have peace within ourselves, we can embrace who we truly are and be content, knowing we have all that we need.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
In a world that often moves too fast and heals too little, The Alwayne Experience (The AWE) LLC stands as a powerful reminder that transformation is still possible—one moment at a time. Founded in March of 2021 by visionary and artist Alwayne Spencer, The AWE is more than a company; it’s a movement, a calling, and a space of healing built from resilience, faith, and purpose.

At its core, The AWE offers something unique: a trilogy of services that intertwine mental health support, music education, and music industry guidance/services. This integrative method isn’t just a business model—it’s a life model. One that honors the complexity of the human experience while providing clear, compassionate pathways toward growth and wholeness.

But The AWE didn’t begin in a boardroom. It was born in a small bedroom at a church where I once lived; during one of the most uncertain times in recent history—the COVID-19 pandemic. In that humble space, I—armed with my gift of music, my deep empathy for others, and my unwavering spiritual grounding—began to build something that would later impact countless lives. I realized that my unique combination of talents and experiences needed a home. Not just for myself, but for everyone seeking healing, clarity, and creative expression.

Creating spaces of healing for the broken; One moment at a time.

This isn’t just our mantra. It’s our mission in motion.

Whether it’s through a therapeutic conversation, a music lesson that unlocks hidden potential, a powerful worship or music therapy session or strategic support navigating the music industry through consultation or providing supporting vocals, every service offered by The AWE is an invitation—an invitation into transformation. Every interaction is grounded in our humanitarian heart, spiritual depth, and passion for authentic connection.

At The AWE, we believe healing isn’t linear. It’s layered, personal, and deeply human. And that’s exactly why our services are designed to meet people where they are, offering tools, guidance, and a sacred space for them to step into the fullness of who they’re becoming.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Galco’s Soda Pop Stop

Rage Room

Tev’s Kitchen on 48th and Vermont is where we’d go to have some delicious authentic Jamaican food.

We would go to a popup open mic to vibe out and enjoy the creative voices of our communities. (I’ll take my friend wherever Aja Marie, Philly or Isaiah Jaay is performing with a live band-Cause they gon’ rock the joint every time.)

Then, JOEY DTLA for a complimentary glass of champagne and delicious Hors d’oeuvres.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to my praying parents, whom I lovingly call my first prophetic pastors.
I honor my older siblings, whom I cherish deeply. Their strength, courage, and resilience continue to inspire me to remain focused on my path.

I acknowledge and thank my mentor in the music industry, Ms. Kim Burrell, whose guidance and impartation has been a treasure of light, a well of wisdom, and a pillar of grace over the past few years.

I remember the various communities that uplifted and encouraged me along the way—CSUN’s Africana Studies Department, H.O.P.E. Fellowship, Black Male Initiative, CSUN Gospel Choir, HOPE’s House Christian Ministries in Grenada Hills, CA, and the Pentecostal City Mission Church in Los Angeles. These communities played a significant role in my professional and spiritual development and assisted in my personal growth beyond their organization.
