We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Nicole and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I own a holistic wellness brand called Selflyss. My intention is to provide products and services that teach others to take selfless actions towards their bodies and the planet. I launched my business during the pandemic in April of 2020 after traveling abroad for a couple of years experiencing different cultures and their way of life. I was fascinated by ancient Eastern practices and their ability to live in harmony with nature. What sets me apart from others is my intentions. I’m here to let love guide me. I want to bring ancient practices to the West and remind people that nature has all we need. I’m most proud of myself for starting a business during a worldwide crisis. When I lost my job, I took it as an opportunity to start something I’ve always wanted to start – which was my own business creating products that I already used in my daily life. My flagship product is Ayurvedic Pulling Oil – also known as “nature’s mouthwash.” Ever heard of coconut oil pulling? If not, it is taking a spoonful of coconut oil and swishing it in your mouth for a few minutes. Then you spit it out and brush your teeth. The benefits include pulling bacteria from your gums and essentially your body, removing bacteria from the mouth, whitening teeth, and preventing cavities. I had always used plain ole coconut oil but after a while, the taste got old and I wanted to enhance it. So, I started infusing the coconut oil with Clove and Peppermint. Not only do these herbs give it a refreshing flavor, but it also increases the medicinal value by killing more bacteria. A year later, after making hundreds of jars by hand, I am excited to announce I will be moving into a manufacturing facility and expanding into more oral care products! Health starts where food begins which is in the mouth.
I got to where I am today by asking a ton of questions. I found successful people in the same field as me and humbly went to them asking for guidance. Ask and you shall receive. It hasn’t been an easy journey considering I have zero previous business experience but just by doing and trying, I have learned SO much along the way! I’ve learned to just trust the process and never give up. Take little action steps daily. If you do what you love and live from your heart, you will be guided. I want the world to know that we all have a specific, divine purpose here on Earth. Whatever makes you happy and lights you up, follow that.
