We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Gleich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what makes you happy? Why?
I think one of the biggest things that makes me happy is making others happy. That sounds so cliche, but in my personal experience with treating people’s skin, nothing is more satisfying than helping someone achieve self confidence again. Your face is the first thing people see, and as someone who’s struggled with acne and the most discouraging path that has come along with it, it’s easily one of the biggest confidence killers when your skin is covered in acne and you feel like that’s all anyone notices about you. So long story longer, it’s such an amazing feeling to help someone feel confident in their skin again. Because when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m so excited about where I’m at in my professional career and the endless opportunities that are yet to come. I’d graduated college in 2015 and was not at all wanting to dive into my major and make a career out of it, yet I had no idea what else I wanted to do. I’d been in the restaurant industry for a few years at that point and thought that I’d maybe climb up that corporate ladder and see what was in store for me there but still it didn’t feel like my “thing”. If anything I was feeling extremely discouraged and was worried that I’d never find my path, that I’d serve tables for the rest of my life or hope that a better opportunity just fell into my lap. But I stayed patient. A few years later, I finally had my lightbulb moment of what I wanted to pursue and the passion has never dwindled since. I finished esthetician school amidst a pandemic, losing someone extremely close to me, and then waited about half a year before I was able to get licensed and really pursue my dream. It wasn’t easy to say the least, the days were long and tiring but this fire that had been ignited in me stayed strong through thick and thin. I’m so excited to finally be working hard towards building a clientele, creating my dream business, and changing people’s lives, one face at a time.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, I love Ventura County but for a week long trip we’d probably have to venture out a bit. I would definitely take her to Santa Barbara, maybe do a night up there and eat and shop along State St. Maybe do a little wine tasting. I’d also take her to Ventura’s Main St. for some good food and nightlife as well as walking the pier or hanging out on the beach. Malibu also isn’t too far away and always good food and beautiful beaches. Maybe catch a movie in town or a night at Stonehaus for wine and a charcuterie board. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister has been a huge part of my story. She has helped me more than I could ever ask for in this journey and I have endless appreciation for her.
