We had the good fortune of connecting with Joey the TV Guy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joey the TV Guy, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Old TVs are making a big comeback! Some of the most cutting edge artists and designers are looking for retro tech to take their work to the next level. There is a nostalgia and cool factor. It’s more creative and has more impact. For example, we had a customer that needed to build a big TV wall for their client. Initially, the concept was to use modern flat screen television sets, but it lacked appeal and wasn’t doing it for them. So they came to Joey’s Tubes for old tube TVs to build a vintage TV wall, and the client was extremely happy with the results.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Whether it’s an independent artist or major multinational brand, we treat all of our customers with the same courtesy and respect. Most recently, we supplied a vintage TV wall to Remy Martin for their new ad campaign starring Usher. It was a great experience. We also have upcoming projects soon to be released in collaboration with recording artists Belly, The Weeknd, & Nas. Very exciting. Stay tuned!!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is known for its amazing street food, and there is no better place than Chiquis Tacos. This food truck has the most authentic and delicious Mexican food you’ll find anywhere. They are open at night, next to the Mobil gas station at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd & Vine in West Hollywood.
I’m also a big fan of nature and classic rock, so I would recommend a visit to Laurel Canyon. Its in the Hollywood Hills just above Sunset Strip. It’s known as rock and roll paradise, because of its picturesque scenery and rich music history. Many famous artists lived there during the 60s and 70s including the Doors, the Eagles, the Byrds, Crosby Stills and Nash, Mamas and the Papas, and Joni Mitchell, to name a few. Check out the Laurel Canyon Hippie Hiking Tour. which gives a behind the scenes look at Laurel Canyon from an insiders point of view.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate this shoutout to my family. Their love and support makes it possible for me to pursue my goals and live an amazing life filled with creativity and joy.
