We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Quiterio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I currently do not have my own business. I work under my supervisor, who has her own business. My future goal is to open my own private practice therapy business. I am currently learning the ropes with my supervisors on what it takes to run a small therapy practice.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I had foster siblings growing up, and so I’ve been exposed to social service my entire life. I have a rare well of experience, having worked with a vast variety of trauma. I didn’t go to school to enter a field that is comfortable. I put myself out there because I care and have always cared. I am most proud of the impact I have been able to have on my clients. I have learned not to be afraid to fail because you will learn from those failures.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The itineray would be the Getty Villa and eat at the Getty Villa Cafe, Malibu beach eat at Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market, go to the Grove and The Original Farmers Market. Also the Korean Bell of Friendship, a Dodger Game and go on a hike Eaton canyon falls. We would have to get donuts from Dad’s Donuts & Bakery. I would say the most fun place to check out are outside activities.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my various mentors that have helped me and supported me as a student and professional in the field.
