We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Aya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I don’t think I would be where I am today if it wasn’t for the risks that took. I’ve always been a big believer in doing things in life that make you happy. Accomplishing goals that makes you feel like you’re serving your purpose in this world. For me, it wasn’t until 2020 where I took the risk of making a complete career change from working in a corporate office. Working a typical 9-5 and working for someone to becoming my own boss.

Switching from an office space to the social media space was a huge challenge and continues to be one everyday. It took a lot of reflecting and self work to work up the courage to risk my stable career to an unknown one.

After taking the risk and creating a business of my own it taught me how to grow as a person and helped me gain the confidence I didn’t know I needed to become someone I’ve always dreamed of being.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a creative person ever since I was young. Anything that had to do with art, or creating something of my own I’ve always been the most interested in. So creating my platform where I can create and share my own story while also sharing my passions in life became a no brainer when it came down to it.

Creating my business and my platform I knew I wanted to help people in some way big or small. Being an Asian American woman I wanted to combine my heritage and my passions together and share it with the world and hope to reach other men and women like me to create community. I share the world through my eyes in hopes it would inspire others to prioritize themselves and to do and share what they love!

It also took a lot of trust in myself to commit in to taking those big steps. Although I’m only 28 years young. I feel like I’ve lived so many lives already. Many of my friends come to me for advice which makes me believe my words have value. I feel that’s been my biggest advantage for me and my platform. My dream has always been becoming my own boss and be successful doing so. The famous quote “If you love your job you’ll never work a day in your life” has become my mantra and in the process of becoming my reality. I knew making the change would also create big and new challenges I never thought I would have to face. But knowing my future is determined by my hard work and dedication it helped me overcome the new challenges of while keeping me motivated in learning new things about myself.

Creating my own business has taught me how to become a little bit more of a perfectionist and how to pay attention to detail. It also taught me how to be more present in the moment and to prioritize myself when I need it the most. I’ve learned how to be more gentle with my self talk and reflect more when new challenges or milestones approach.

My hopes for my platform is for people to find a safe space and feel like they can trust me. A place where they can share, watch and learn something from me or if they just need someone to make them laugh to brighten their day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Traveling is my favorite thing to do! My husband and I travel a lot throughout the year and love seeing beautiful places all over the world.

If my best friend was staying only for a week I would Immediately put them back on a plane and take them to New York for 24 hours and have drinks in the city that leads to a late night dinner at serendipity. Truly one of my favorite iconic places in New York.
That may sound a little crazy but you would be surprised how much you can do in one day!

My best friend would also know how much I love live music. Which means we find a music festival to attend, dress cute and dance all night!

When we got back I would take them for a long costal drive to see the all the beauty beaches California has to offer then have a sunset beach dinner and take all the cute photos!

Lastly I’ll take them for a night in LA and enjoy the LA city! By the time we’ve done everything the week will feel like it flew by and they’ll already have their next vacation ticket secured!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely! I don’t think I would’ve been able to commit and learn the roll of being my own boss and creating my own business without the help of my family and mentors. But the person that I’d give the most credit to is my husband. He’s been my number one supporter through every rough patch and challenge I’ve faced.

He not only supports me in every aspect but does his best to understand and relate to my challenges along with keeping me motivated when I need the reminder. Nothing beats having your husband to be your number one fan!
