We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Sue Bourda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda Sue, why did you pursue a creative career?
I truly believe that my zodiac sign chose for me. I am a true to form gemini. I am all about creative energy and self expression. I have dabbled in many forms of self expression over the years and my heart settled on fashion. The idea of creating a garment from a simple yd of fabric, or an unconventional material, for example “playing cards” which I just made a dress out of, really feeds my soul. Using my hands to create a wearable piece of art, its like breathing for me. The beauty of High Fashion, Couture and Avant Garde fashion took hold of me and never let me go.

What should our readers know about your business?
AMANDA SUE COUTURE is a “STATEMENT PIECE” brand. I design and make “one of a kind” garments. My brand is EXCLUSIVE in the form of no duplicates. Every garment is a “one of a kind”. No FAST FASHION HERE! They are perfect for editorials, red carpet, performances, videos, overall STANDING OUT IN THE CROUD! I want everyone who owns an Amanda Sue Couture piece to know they are the only one with that garment.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I’m from the bay. My hometown city is Berkeley. There is the San Francisco PIER. Which has a plethora of shops and restaurants. we have some dope museums, California Academy of Sciences, Tea Garden. But honestly I spend a lot of time in fabric stores and at home working. The Bay Areas selling points are women,weed, & weather,lol! Shout out to Kendrick Lamar! It’s Cali Baby! Just know whatever you find to do, you’ll enjoy it in beautiful weather.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My spouse deserves all the credit. She has made it possible for me to really submerge myself in my craft. she has supported me through lows and celebrated me during the highs.Most importantly, she has never let me give up.
