We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Amrhein and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Discovering a proper work-life balance has taken me quite some time to figure out, but is something I have come to truly treasure. I have so much going on, so hour by hour scheduling and to-do lists have always been a must for me! Prior to 2020, I would continuously come to realize that my schedule was completely packed with things that did not truly fulfill me. I did not give myself much time for self care and burnout would creep in often. When this happened, I would pause, list everything I truly wanted to focus on, then shift my schedule to prioritize those things. After a few months of this I would find myself stuck again in a dull, packed schedule. Once COVID and the lockdown hit us in 2020, I had a golden opportunity to put myself first and reassess what exactly I wanted to pursue in life. This led me to focus on my spiritual business fulltime and actually discover a proper work-life balance! I love taking my time in the mornings, so I’ve set my schedule to accommodate this, I allow myself an hour and a half for exercise/time outside, and have created a nice wind down regimen before bed. I make sure I get about 7-8 hours of sleep, I give myself one day off each week to either rest or go on an adventure, and have been prioritizing quality time with my boyfriend. I was notorious for getting burnt out from overworking myself, so I have been very cautious to prevent this. The second I feel the stress and fatigue creeping in, I immediately schedule some self care time to reset, whether that be to catch up with a friend, take a walk, or cuddle with my cats. As an empath, boundaries are imperative for me to stay balanced, grounded, and present so I can be there for my clients to my best ability. Thus, giving myself time to reset and meditate throughout the day is super helpful. The rest of my days are then filled with clients, working on my podcast, running errands, etc. I’m still learning to find balance, but right now it means doing whatever I need to remain fully present in the moment (aka listening to what my body needs). Everything that hit us in 2020 was such a great awakening tool to allow me to reset and follow through with what I am really passionate about. I LOVE what I do so much, and discovering some kind of balance has allowed me to keep that passion alive and thriving!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Psychic Medium and Reiki Master/Teacher in Usui, Karuna®, and Crystal Reiki. I have been connecting to the energy world since I was born. I grew up in a family where both of my parents had a sixth sense, so my psychic abilities were nurtured and encouraged. I have had incredible experiences with various energy beings such as angels, faeries, ghosts, and extraterrestrials since I was a child.
When I was 9, I was sexually abused, leaving me with PTSD. Though this created quite a struggle, it opened up my empathic nature to allow me to connect to the energy around me on such a deeper level. When I was 16, I met my mentor, who taught me how to fine tune my abilities and run a psychic medium business. After a few short months, I began offering my psychic medium services professionally to people all over the world. I then began exploring other avenues such as trance channeling, teaching, house cleansings, and ultimately, Reiki healing.
My mom, a Reiki Master/Teacher herself, took me under her wing. I received my Master/Teacher certifications in Usui, Karuna®, and Crystal Reiki by 2019. Through Reiki, my gifts and all areas of my spiritual work have been fueled and enhanced by its powerful signature of light and love. Adding to that, I have a deep connection with the Faery realm, which brings in sprinkles laughter and joy.
In July 2020, I quite my job to focus on this venture full time. It has been such a gift to be a part of others’ journeys. In an effort to further my reach and share, I started a podcast, Diary of a Psychic Medium, in January 2021. The goal of it is to shed light and guidance on various topics revolving around energy, energy beings, spirit guides, developing psychic abilities, etc. Energy is all around us, and I hope to remove any fear and clear up any confusion regarding it.
It hasn’t necessarily been an easy journey, but I trust my intuition and will follow it wholeheartedly without question. This has gotten me through my jump to fulltime fairly smoothly! If you follow what it is that makes your heart sing, you will never fail. The entire process is full of twists and lessons, but it has been such a joyous adventure.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the hiking trails in Pasadena. The Echo Mountain trail is one of my favorites to explore. Seeing the remnants of the old railroad and hotel make it so much more exciting. Taking the trail further to Inspiration Point offers an incredible view of the neighboring cities. I also really enjoy going to the Arboretum for a nice quiet walk. One of my favorite places to eat is Real Food Daily. The Mediterranean salad is incredible!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been so fortunate to have so many people behind me, encouraging me. I’d like to give a special shoutout to Ivory (Astral Ivory on YouTube). Having me as a guest for her YouTube videos, as well as using my services for special giveaways, has brought me to meet so many dear friends and clients. Her support, as well as the support of those I met due to her, allowed me to take the leap to pursue my business full time, and I am eternally grateful!
