We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Wilcox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to be a radio host, but figured I was “too country” for any radio station to hire me. So when I was transitioning out of the army, I was looking for ways to learn how to record myself and create my own show. I went to LA Film School for Audio Engineering and learned how to do my own thing and it was up from there.Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started The Says I soon learned that I would have to wear many hats. With creating The Says, I have picked up many talents. I’m an editor, producer, blogger, photographer, and Podcaster. It definitely isn’t easy being a one person team. You need a team. That is why I’m grateful for my cohost/wife Olivia. She helps produce the podcast, when I’m busy wearing another hat at the moment. A team helps you stay accountable and moving. So please, get a team that understands the mission. Also, I’ve learned to never forget to show appreciation to your team. Those “thank yous” really matter.Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Whenever my family come in town I make sure they eat at the best hot chicken spot in LA, Hot Motha Clucker. They have 2 locations, one in the valley and one in Hollywood. The Hollywood location is a bar now and they have awesome drink deals so that’s a plus.

I love to show them the city view so driving on Mulholland and driving down the pch is always a vibe.

And if you want to have a nice vibe and good food on some “fine dining type stuff”, you can always go to STK. They have yet to disappoint me.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Definitely have to give a shout out to Kareem James for thinking of me when it came to this. Also, Brittney Boston cause if it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have met Kareem and many others. I have to shout her out for all the many opportunities she has blessed me with, especially with Musicology.
