Meet Amy Keoroghlian | Huge foodie, restaurant critic, Content Creator on Instagram and Tik Tok

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Keoroghlian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I feel like my entire life has been one big risk taking journey. If you don’t take risks in life, you’ll just get stuck and you won’t move forward or move on. I’m not the type of person to wait and see what happens if someone else tries something new and different. I’m usually the one that will take the risk in trying new things, you can say it has been my entire life’s motto. I think my husband has played a huge role in that as well because we’ve always taken risks together and so far we’re happy with where our life has gone not saying life has been perfect and 100% but we get through things together. If you don’t take those risks, you’re just missing out on what could be. I’ve worked in advertising, in the banking world, baking and decorating cookies, and for several years I was part of my kids high school PTO so I’ve worn many hats. Regardless if I was a stay at home mom, a wife, an assistant or co-chairing PTO in each role risk taking has been a key factor. Recently, both my husband and I became young empty-nesters. We have two daughters in college and I’m in my early 40s. I found myself in a midlife crisis when both my daughters went off to college. Since I had dedicated so many years of my life taking care of them, I was in a bit of a turmoil as to what I’m going to do with my life. My husband and I love traveling and we’ve been huge foodies our whole lives. We love experiencing different cultures through food and we’re always down to try something new and different and I just happen to start making Tik Tok videos of the restaurants that we were dining at. Through this new experience and life change, I found something that I love to do. We’ve been connecting over it and it has brought us closer together. We love reviewing the restaurants and food together and so far it’s been amazing. It’s a lot of work, but I’m really enjoying it. It takes up a lot of my free time, but I’m learning this new adventure and I’m putting together creative videos and reels that I’m quite proud of.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve always been a very creative person. I’ve always loved art, I appreciate art in all forms. It doesn’t matter what I do, I know art plays a huge role in my life whether it’s visual or tangible. Since I’m new to this content creator world, within the past six months I found that there are so many people like myself out there working hard every day whether it’s cooking, painting, decorating and they’re putting videos out on social media to help people get through their day. Somehow social media has become an outlet and it’s a visual artistic outlet for many. I think a lot of people started during the pandemic and I’m a bit late to the game but there’s always room for newbies. I don’t see myself as being successful just yet, I’m still very new to the game and have a lot to learn. I kind of almost feel like this interview is a little early on in my new venture, because I don’t know where it’s going to take me. I have many ideas and many aspirations for where this social media work can take me. I guess I’m just another person striving to make my life count, striving to learn something new and do something that I’m proud of and people care for. I recently posted a video of these pretty Tea bombs that were gifted to me by a friend and the video kind of went viral on Tik Tok with over 350 Thousand views. Not sure thats even considered going viral but through the process and because of the video this small business owner received thousands of inquiries for the product she’s selling. She was so thankful to me and I was so happy that my video actually helped someone. That was a small win for me. When I think to myself, what are you doing? Something like this happens to push me along.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would definitely take my best friend on a foodie tour of all the restaurants that I’ve been reviewing recently. LA is huge there are so many things to see and do but my favorite city is Pasadena, of course I’m biased because I live in Pasadena. First, we would go to the Huntington library for a garden tour. The grounds are just so beautiful there. We would stop and get coffee and croissants at Artisinal Goods by Car before though. It’s like a quick trip to Paris, don’t think they can make croissants better anywhere else. We would visit Norton Simon Museum and have lunch at Houston’s, some shopping in old town Pasadena. Dinner at Din Tai Fung for sure in Arcadia for the best Chinese dumplings in the world. So many great places to eat in and around Pasadena but we might venture out of Pasadena and go to the Americana at Brand in Glendale or The Grove in LA. Eaton canyon hike would also be really nice if we have a great sunny day. I would not have a hard time showing my bestie the best of LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost, my husband who’s been my best friend since we were young kids. I literally was 18 when I met him. He’s been my backbone supporting me 100% through this adventure that I’ve taken on. Also my two daughters that inspire me every single day. They are such hard-working, smart girls who are working on their undergrad right now. I am just ultimately inspired by them and their support means the world to me. My youngest, Talia whose support has gone above and beyond. I love them so much and they complete my life. My bestie Michelle always goes above and beyond with great recommendations and constant support.
