Meet Ana Fierro | Photographer & Library Technical Assistant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Fierro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ana, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Encouraging my kids to pursue their dreams has been such a great part of the process of being a business owner AND parent. Not only am I teaching my children that being an entrepreneur can be an adventure, I also show them that hard work and dedication to something you love is worth every bit the effort poured into your business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got into photography when I was in Ireland in 2003. At the ripe age of 17, I was handed a camera and told to “take some photos of our team”-we were in Ireland to help a local church with a few outreaches for a week. I fell head over heels capturing people, landscapes, animals-and I never looked back! One specific photo I took was a group of teenage boys just walking around the city of Galway. I asked them if they were up for taking a quick photo together, and they said yes! That was when I knew meeting new people and photographing them would bring my heart so much joy!
After I graduated high school, I studied photography at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga. I learnt how to develop and process both color and black + white film in lab, and took a bunch of photo courses.
Fast forward a bit, and I decided to major with a bachelors of fine arts with an emphasis in art history at Cal State Fullerton in 2011. Both areas of study helped me develop an eye to capturing art through a lens. Now, lots of years later, I still love photo as art and documenting the season of life people find themselves in by running my photo business, and work part time as a lIbrary technical assistant in the children’s department at my local library.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
By far, the best places in SoCal to suggest we visit would be The Getty Museum, LACMA, MOCA, the Broad and of course The Griffith Observatory! All things art, science + stunning views of LA are my go-to hang out suggestions.
For food, Los Cholos, Two Saucy Broads or coffee from PLAY coffee in Fullerton are my must-eats.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband Mitch and our four children are my muses. They encourage me to take risks, pursue my art, and pivot as needed through all seasons of life!
