We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Vece and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, why did you pursue a creative career?
I think I’ve always been on this path without even knowing. From helping friends get ready for dances in middle/high school, to college parties, to special events thereafter, I was obsessed with how makeup and hair can make people feel. You can go from feeling like a gremlin, to knowing your the baddest b**** walking into a room. It helped bring out the goddess I saw but they needed help seeing. That end result of their reaction is worth the hours long process every time.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Although, yes, I’m worried about how you look for the next however many hours, I’m also worried about your skin. So the products I use are high end (Chanel, Giorgio Armani, etc.) to make sure we treat your canvas right. I also have a lot of clients who don’t know very much about makeup. I’ll allow them to film me while I talk them through what I was doing in that moment as to recreate at a later date.
I don’t believe I’ve begun to go as far as I can because I’ve yet to accomplish my biggest hurdle yet which is: self doubt. It’s sometimes really hard to to say “Silenzio, Bruno” (Luca, anyone?) but whenever I do have burts of putting myself out there, I’m really proud of it every time. I’m learning that everyone hears that voice, which is nice to know we are all scared, but do it anyway. So that’s what I want people to know about me, I’m terrified, but gonna keep going.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would be absolutely nowhere without my amazing family and friends who have turned into family. Finding likeminded people who are just as motivated for their future, if not more (with multiple sources of income, businesses and skills) is exceptionally hard. However, I’m very lucky to have found those people and that they support me in any way they can by: reposting, commenting, booking me, sending me gigs, sending interviews my way ;), etc.
