We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Flint and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I never imagined that I would be a business owner. After college, I always thought that my future would prevail in social work. Somehow a future in social work changed to being a teacher. I loved being a teacher and being able to make a difference but did not enjoy the rules, financial unstableness, and favoritism that comes with many jobs. I was bored of waking up and doing the same thing over and over. Like most, I never looked forward to going to work and always looked forward to going home. In 2015, after cutbacks I decided to start Kandiyamzz Catering to make ends meet. I’ve always enjoyed cooking, and with my parents having a catering company it’s always been a big part of my family. For the first time I loved and was excited about what I was doing. Business was booming and doing better than I expected. I saw the potential and eventually quit my job. I wanted FREEDOM!! I wanted the freedom to choose when my day starts, the freedom to choose how much I make and freedom of creativity. Overall, I wanted to be my own boss.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Both of my businesses, Kandiyamzz Catering and One Love Rx are known for cannabis infusions. I never thought that I would indulge in cannabis but after suffering from seizures for years and taking medication after medication and seeing doctor after doctor I started to look into the benefits of cannabis. With cannabis I am seizure free and my health has improved tremendously. Over the years I have educated myself on cannabis, incorporating it into my products and improving the health of others. Being able to help and change the lives of others is very fulfilling, in which I am most proud of.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

•The Alley
•Tito’s Tacos
•Disneyland
•Taco Mama
•Taylor’s Steakhouse
•Any of LA’s beautiful beaches
•Farmers Market
•Koreatown

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people that have played a significant role in my success. First and foremost are my parents. I’m grateful that as a child they introduced me to cooking, different foods and cultures. They have been my backbone and biggest supporters in making sure that my businesses succeed, especially as a single mother. I’m not sure where my businesses would be without them. I am blessed beyond measure and forever grateful for them. My success is their success.

Aside from my parents, my daughter has impacted my success greatly. After my daughter was born in 2017, she motivated me to grow and improve as a business woman. I had someone depending on me and looking up to me. I had to succeed. I became focused and dedicated. The growth in myself and my businesses from then to now is astounding.

Lastly, the support of my TRIBE has played a significant role in my success. These are the friends that aren’t blood but family in my eyes. They’ve been there for me from helping me in the kitchen, hyping me up, or being a shoulder to cry on. I appreciate them for believing in me and my future.
