We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by balance. I look to nature to understand balance and that to me is the key to health which is imperative when navigating the future of our world and our species.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most excited about helping people reconnect with nature. My goal is to help those who seek health and balance feel empowered.

My journey was not necessarily a straightforward path. Much less an easy one. Growing up as a first-generation immigrant of Native American descent, I also focus on paying homage and respect to Native American ways of living with the land. Through my own journey, I found deep healing reconnecting to more natural ways of living. I believe that caring for our inner world will be reflected in our outer world and vice-versa. By connecting with our plant kin, learning about nature and from nature, we can in turn learn to take better care of ourselves and our planet.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’re definitely going for a hike! Whether it’s the Eagle Rock trail, Debs Park, Griffith or even Malibu Canyon, we’re getting up early and hiking. We’re going to do a sunrise hike and a sunset hike at one point or another. We’re going to check in on the native plants and find a new plant friend if possible. There’s always something new growing. We may or may not have time to do a tea meditation during the hike but that’s always a plus. Huntington Garden is a whole day thing. They have really good food at the Jade Court Cafe. And to end the week long trip on a sweet note, we’d go to Tea at Shiloh’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shoutout to Robin Wall Kimmerer, Michael Pollan and my professor Russell Di Fiori for putting me onto this path.
