We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Michaelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking for me meant or means going with my instinct and not letting an end game influence my creative reach. When I do work for clients, my vision/aesthetic is used as a filter for my client’s vision.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
i prefer to build my design jobs, as no one cares about the details as much as the creator.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
los angeles is filled with creative people, form chefs to artists. i would visit the arts district in dtla, some of the artist studios, and eat at some of my favorite places, chi spacca, giusta, lukshon,,, there are so many
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
obviously my background has influenced me. multi lingual, exposure to travel and seeing the world around, my architecture training with regard to history, architectural integrity, symmetry, axis, scale, order…my creative thinking ability has enabled me to cross subject boundaries, apply new ways of breaking convention.
