We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
That I wanted to created generational wealth for my family and to be a successful business as well as a house hold name.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Honestly what sets me apart other creatives is my journey and story. How I got to my current career was by taking a leap of faith even when the road was not yet visible. I can remember several years ago I was homeless and left a toxic situation, I could remember thinking that this is not the life I wanted for myself. So one day I began to pour my heart onto a piece of paper which turned out to be art that became fashion designs then later ended up on the runways of La fashion week and New York fashion week to the Bill Boards of New York time square. In that moment I realize my life stood for a purpose and that I must live within my truth. So I began to share my story as a survivor of abuse and used my platforms during fashion week to make a statement for women and children affected by abuse. In that stage of my life it was only the beginning that many started to pay attention which lead me to more doors of opportunities such as fashion styling and now writing and creating films to spread awareness and my truth that in hopes it would potentially save someone else’s life. That my story is just an example and testimony that anything is possible if you take a leap of faith of your life AFTER THE STORM.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Manhattan beach for picnic on the beach to enjoy the view and allow our feet to touch the water to help clear their mind of anything. Then I would take them to West Hollywood to go salsa dancing and happy hour. Next we would go to the Terra Eataly a rooftop restaurant to enjoy the fine dinning and view.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my daughter Miracle. My daughter is what has given me the will power and strength to continue my journey & motivates me to bring out the absolute best version of myself. my twin brother Andre for always believing in me when many did not believe in my vision. You are the first person ever to truly support and believe in me & thank you so much. I feel super blessed to have a twin brother like you. Another person I would like to shout out is my best friends Barbra Sanchez & Shirelle Chislum for always being supportive of my dreams and your words of encouragement. Lastly I would like to thank all of my friends, supporters that’s followed my journey through out the years before I became the woman who I am today through all of my trials and most importantly God because without him I would not be able to accomplish what I’ve done in a short period of time in my life.
