We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrés Nuño and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrés, why did you pursue a creative career?
That is a complex question, as I have been drawn to this career path throughout my entire life. I have always known that I would work in the arts, specifically in filmmaking, though it was never a meticulously planned decision. Storytelling has fortunately come naturally to me, and it has taken me time to determine the most effective ways to convey my narratives and share them with the world. Find a way to reach the largest audience to share stories I believe haven’t been told yet.

Currently, I am working as a freelance filmmaker and writer. I also manage multiple social media accounts where I create short films and produce daily content. Additionally, I operate online stores where I sell products tailored for creatives and artists. And that’s not including all the other side hustles I seem to gather along the way.

As for what lies ahead, I am continually evolving both personally and creatively. While I cannot predict the exact trajectory of my career in the near future, I am excited about the journey. I can confidently assure you though that my path will remain within the creative field. Stay tuned…

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
During my final terms at film school, I had the privilege of taking a class with Luke Barnett, an exceptional instructor and filmmaker. This course concentrated on the intersection of social media and filmmaking, which ultimately led me to discover my passion for micro short films—specifically, short films designed for social media platforms.

Following my graduation, I launched an account I had pitched during the class called Killer Pigeon, where I created horror short films tailored for social media. These films were shot vertically, featuring storylines that unfolded in mere minutes or even seconds. I identified a niche that distinguished my work from others, despite some perceiving it as either lazy or lacking seriousness. Nevertheless, I found genuine passion and motivation within this creative domain.

Killer Pigeon has since grown to achieve millions of views and engage hundreds of thousands of people. I have now established Cowboy Pigeon as the parent company for Killer Pigeon, with the aim of focusing on storytelling specifically crafted for social media. Embarking on this new journey is exhilarating, and I hope it opens more doors for my creative endeavors in the future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Now we are talking. Hmmmm.

I live in West Hollywood, so this part of town radiates with good energy and fun. My favorite place to eat is Tu Madre, a taco spot down the street from me. Their happy hour is exceptional, and I highly recommend the potato taquitos and KBBQ tacos—they are simply outstanding. Additionally, they featured a photo of me on their Instagram, which makes me a celebrity in the taco community. As for where to hang and grab a bite, well, West Hollywood, of course. It’s filled with history and an amazing nightlife. From amazing food, to bars, to drag shows, West Hollywood has it all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who have supported me throughout my journey. Pursuing a career in the arts without connections or financial backing is both challenging and daunting; without the encouragement of numerous people, my aspirations would have been truly unattainable.

I am particularly grateful to Mr. Grimes, my high school video teacher, who nurtured my talents and encouraged me to attend film school, allowing me to take my initial steps toward this career. I also owe thanks to my siblings, who enthusiastically participated in my ambitious short films, including the one that secured my admission to my dream school, ArtCenter College of Design.

Additionally, I would like to acknowledge Andrew Harlow, my instructor during my final term in film school. He challenged me to explore my creative boundaries and instilled the confidence I needed to enter this scary industry when I doubted my abilities. His belief in my potential during a critical time was invaluable.

To Mr. Grimes, my siblings, Andrew, and countless others who have contributed to my journey, I extend my deepest appreciation. I look forward to the many individuals who will cross my path in the future, helping me reach my next goals. Thank you!
