We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, what are you inspired by?
I would say I’m mostly inspired by music but I can draw inspiration from just about anything in my day to day life. I like to say my life has a soundtrack because ever since I could remember there was always some music playing that I could relate with a specific part of my life, whether it was morning walks to school bumping Lil Wayne or being woken up on a Sunday morning to Ramon Ayala blasting throughout the house, intricate beat patterns, lyricism and a melody that hit just right was that inspiration that helped me to visualize music from a young age. Even though Music is a huge player in what inspires me, some of the most basic things like the way the sun is diffused through trees or the light reflection on a train, It all just plants a seed for future inspiration.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
With anything from graphic designs to music videos I try to keep my work as unique and consistent as possible, I always try to mix in one of my other mediums with whatever I’m working on. Whether its adding a film sprocket from a roll I developed and scanned the night before or making a picture move in a 3D space, I love to interchange all the mediums I work in. Getting to where Im at professionally was definitely not easy, it takes a lot of heart and dedication to the craft, sleepless nights and overtime with no extra pay is a given when you’re running your own business, you just have to make it worth it. The best lesson i’ve learned is that building bridges in this industry is a lot more effective than burning them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Some of the best spots in the city are the Art Museums and gallery walks if you want to pass some time, Eddie V’s and Ruth Chris for some good eats and Mission Ballroom or Red Rocks to catch a show.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m dedicating this shout to all my friends and family that believed, and continue to believe in everything that I do. A special shoutout to my brothers, Foeva and Lazy, from FoevaLazyFilms that helped and really pushed me get my start in the music industry which ultimately led to becoming one of the lead videographers with FoevaLazy and running my own business as Portra47, Without y’all I couldn’t ever see myself on sold out stages and studio sessions with people like 2 Chainz, Sauce Walka, A$AP Ant and so many more.
