We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Stern and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor in my continued success in the Modeling industry has been to always take the high road when confronted with problems. To succeed in this industry it’s crucial to keep things clear. If you set high standards for what people can expect from you then you can hold others to those same standards; it’ll make people want to work at your level.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a mother agent it is my job to discover, develop and place Talent with the correct Agency.  It is the responsibility for those Agencies to book the Talent.  I know exactly what Model should go to what agency so that they are represented exactly to fit the market they need to be in.  I place models worldwide and have relationships with agencies in every Major market. One thing that sets me apart from other Mother Agents is that usually they place and walk away, I stay involved like a mother would with their children  I take the word “Mother” in Mother agent very seriously, I am very close with them all and keep an eye on them all. I currently have over 400 models worldwide.  The fashion industry is a crude business, not for everyone. It’s highly competitive, and everyone who doesn’t know you will go out of their way to stand in your way. After 30 years of experience I’ve become calloused to the inner workings of the industry. Patience and persistence has rewarded me with a massive network of people I can count on to make great work come to life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Nothing compares to the feeling of driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in my vintage Mercedes; sun setting on the west and the mountainous terrain on the east. The Reel Inn in Malibu offers the perfect balance of the Los Angeles glamour and the inviting and humble beach culture. No other place can offer a better “all in one experience”.   In the same week we can go skiing in Big Bear and the next day drive up the coast to Solvang for a danish. I always go to the Farmers Market on Sunday in Malibu and then have a lunch on the beach from The Malibu Country Kitchen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I attribute a large portion of my success to my father. He taught me everything I know about business, my work ethic and always being fair.  I was also taught that you never give up.  I have passed this onto all of the Talent that I represent.  #mymodelsarebetterthanyours
