We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Stuart and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue a creative/artistic career, after spending over 10 years managing hard rock musicians, I fell in love with photography and it was time to finally take everything I had learned about managing other peoples careers, and apply to my own creative outlets. One of the best decisions I have ever made.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
If I had to categorize myself as a photographer, I suppose it would be documentary. I primarily shoot live music, behind-the-scenes, backstage, the real life moments between the moments. I’m fortunate to be able to bring 10 years of music industry experience and relationships, into a photography career. That helped me tremendously, building trust with artists as well as their various representatives, from record labels to managers etc. Aside from the relationships, the music background has helped me market and promote myself, and handle the business end of things professionally and efficiently as well.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Probably start by mapping out what live events are happening, concerts, galleries etc. Then plan food adventures surrounding those, cocktails and tacos everywhere, galleries, guitar shops and a few non crowded hikes and beach trips…
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate this shout out, to everyone who ever took a risk in their career path, to be able to chase happiness and create art!
