We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Valenzuela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always loved and enjoyed creating art. Whether through performing or with the use of technology. The best careers, I think, are centered around someone’s passions. If you truly love what you’re doing, success and fulfillment will always come!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started AV Edits to begin making a living out of things that I already loved doing for myself and for others. I was shy at first because I thought, “how could I compete in this industry with no experience?”, “would anyone be interested in what I have to offer?” The danger with that is I was doing it for others and not for myself. If you want to do something that you know will fill you with joy, do it. The most exciting skill I have acquired is photo restoration and colorization. It has always fascinated me and so I set about self teaching myself how to do it. I couldn’t be happier with the work I’ve done and I cannot wait to make more art for people.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Los Angeles has so many fun and exciting things to do. For me, The Valley is my favorite area. NoHo Arts district has many small businesses and eateries that have a calming and inviting atmosphere such as Republic of Pie and El Tejano. In the surrounding hills, there are many different hiking trails that give breathtaking views of the entire Valley. My favorite trials are the O’Melveny Park Trail in Granda Hills and the Caballero Canyon Trail. It is so nice to get away into nature and escape the bustling city for a couple hours. For a little more amusement, City Walk and Universal Studios are great places to visit and I love showing people around who have never been. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate this shoutout to my family and to the love of my life, Cade King. Without all of their support, I would not be where I am. Creating art always comes with doubts and second guesses but, having a support system to push you through is truly a gift.
