We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Choy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always wanted to run a company since I was a kid. I used to draw pictures of flowers for my mothers friends and they would pay me 5 to 15 dollars for each drawing. That’s where I discovered the art of selling and making something count on my own. Once I learned that, it was over for the market of 10 year old creative entrepreneurs. Then life happened and the family bills were piling up so it was time at 13 years old to work for a stable check to support my family and have something extra on the side for myself. I followed the typical route and graduated high-school then went to college. I always knew there was something more for myself beyond this path, also something that was smarter and more efficient to become aligned in my purpose. Meditation and yoga were always apart of my life path. I started teaching yoga and wellness in 2019 and it’s turned into my full time work. After 5 years developing a vast clientele list it was time to register and open my very first LLC and offering my services as a business. I started working with non-profits, companies, and offering classes and wellness events to my community in the Bay Area. I’m getting ready to open my first ever yoga studio, Divine Unity Collective. Although this journey started very young for me this is just the beginning of what Divine Unity will bring the world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Divine Unity is a healing arts collective that provides yoga, sound healing, music, and so much more to the community at large. I started providing services 1:1 to clients and then eventually branched to providing large scale classes and now opening my very own space. This journey is meant to be, I have taken many pauses over that last 5 years establishing this business, but time and time again I alway went back to grow it larger. Baby steps helps me overcome challenges. Taking everything one step at a time to build up the momentum to when push comes go shoves I have the energy and resources to do so. Divine Unity Collective is a movement for all people to connect through healing, arts, and expression! Our physical space is opening this year and we cannot wait to have you with us!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So we will definitely start out at at Sidewalk Juice located in the Mission for my favorite acai bowls. After we’ll walk around Valencia st shopping around and chill at Dolores Park under the sun with some yummy kombucha and music! For lunch we will hop over to Serranos Pizza and people watch as we eat our delicious slices.

Always fun to kick it in the mission for a social out and about vibe. If we want to have a quieter time we can go to Glen Park chill at a cafe and then go to the canyon after for a beautiful nature walk.

Some of my favorite restaurants for Dinner are in Chinatown hop around and find a place that calls to you 9/10 you’ll find the best dim sum you’ve had in a while.
