We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Gravves and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
When it comes to playing music, there are so many risk you have to be willing to take. You risk personal relationships, family, work, and so much more. When you want to make your dreams come true, you set so many things aside for that small chance that will make your dream your reality. A lot of people do recognize the involved with playing music. There are constant battles between my life as a musician and my personal life. We sacrifice and risk it all to be on the stage. I’d risk it all for that one chance.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I’m in stage, I give it everything I got. Not only am I playing for myself, but I’m also playing for those that can’t play anymore. I’ve lost friends that have been in the music scene and I like to think that they live within me when I’m performing. There’s no room for shyness when you’re on stage. I do the very best I can for those that don’t have the opportunity. This is something that helped me over come my stage fright and fear of public speaking. It definitely wasn’t easy, but I pushed through because I knew I wasn’t living for just myself anymore. When I’m playing music I play for the people I love and the people that enjoy music just as much as I do. I just take it one step at a time and hope for the best.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them out to Emo Nite in LA! Building up to that, I’d take them to Angel City Brewery in DTLA maybe catch a few arcade games at 1up. If they’re up for it, I’d even take them for a hike at the observatory! Luckily we have so many variety’s of great tasting food out here so that would be easy. There are a bunch of hidden gems out here and I’d definitely explore them all.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Freddy Ramirez / fearless leader of GRAVESEND. Freddy is someone that gets things done when he says it’ll get done. He has pushed me to become an even better musician. The things this guy has done for the band is incredible. He is a MASTERMIND. The amount of energy he has is insane. Whenever someone around him is down, he does everything in his power to make them cheer up. Love him for the great person he is.
