We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Who Thrifts and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I launched Angel Who Thrifts because of my love for thrifting. Growing up, I did not enjoy thrifting so much. I hated it. I did not understand how to find anything good in a store with so many different items. As I grew older, I learned the power of finding name brands and unique items that no one knew came from the thrift store. I then, found myself, telling others, about my passion for thrifting and others were intrigue. I launched my blog in 2018 as a project or a creative avenue to showcase my love for thrifting. In 2020, I launched my online thrift store focused on the customer’s needs through personal styling and mystery boxes. I currently curate mystery boxes and clothing and accessories for my store.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I blog part-time on my website and feature photos and my story on social media sites, @angelwhothrifts.com.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of friends came in town, we would spend time at one of the local beaches. We would enjoy as much seafood as they can take. We would spend a lot of time at the oceanfront and in downtown Norfolk. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my grandma and mom for initially giving me the opportunity to see that thrift stores exist. Growing up we would donate clothes and home goods to the thrift store. We would stop in to look around briefly after dropping off a donation. I did not value the experience then, but now understand the importance of donating, thrifting to save the planet, and finding your personal style while doing it.
