We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Valentino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, what do you attribute your success to?
This is actually a question to me; been done often. This is a very significant question as far as I’m concerned. I am a make-up artist and like all jobs in the entertainment world they are very complex and above all it is very difficult to reach high levels, obviously I am referring to a career. I believe the most important factor behind my success: is me, if I have been successful and am succeeding the only person I have to thank is me. Behind these questions there is a much deeper discussion than a simple question. Achieving success is a long journey that a human being must take, risking everything, not only in an economic sense but also in a human sense, for example meeting the wrong people along the way who could put you off track and distract you from your goal. . I am Italian and I already had a career in Italy but I have always been a very ambitious and competitive person and America has always been that country that reflected my person so I decided to leave and come to live in New York, a city ‘with a unique energy but very complex as a city, difficult, competitive, in short, a real jungle. I believe that the key to my success was the fact that I never gave up and insisted on reaching my goal, I put my work before everything and everyone, never stopping for one day not to believe in what I was doing, I always He says that nothing is impossible in life, in fact if you really want something you can get it. Today if I continue to be successful it is because I continue to believe in my goal, working hard every day and even in moments of rest my brain continues to think and work, thinking what I could do to improve my work and obtain even better results. ‘ important. Behind every success there are great sacrifices that sometimes people can’t even imagine especially if you come from another country and not only do you have to fight for your job or career but also with all the paperwork to live in the new country where you live. you’re transferred. Concluding the great success of my life is ME.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been doing this job for 17 years and I’ve been in entertainment business for 20. I’ve loved art since I was a little girl. When I work I feel a strong adrenaline inside, very difficult to explain, let’s say I love work infinitely, it gives me a positive energy, this energy passes through my whole body until it reaches my hands which are the fulcrum of my work, my art and concentrated all there. When I perform a trick on any person, I see that person as a big blank canvas where in that moment I can transform them into a great masterpiece. I have a lot to learn from my career and the mistakes have been a real life lesson for me. It’s thanks to those mistakes that I am the woman I am today.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
New York is a magical city. I would definitely take a friend to Battery Park, my favorite neighborhood in Manhattan, an area full of bars overlooking the Hudson River, there is a beautiful view overlooking New Jersey and here you can admire the most beautiful New York sunsets, the sunset has the colors of fire, from red to orange to bright yellow to pink, spectacular. From there, walking along the river you can reach the Hudston yard district, a new area of Manhattan where we can see very tall skyscrapers and one of these is spectacular in the true sense of the word. A skyscraper with a large terrace that plunges into the center of the city, the sensation is like jumping into space. The view is magnificent. Another place that I love is definitely the Dumbo terraces in Brooklyn. The view is unique, we can see one of the most beautiful skylines of New York, the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge with all the views of Wall Street and the statue of freedom in a small way. You can’t miss a helicopter ride at sunset to completely immerse yourself in the middle of the skyscrapers, I would definitely take a walk in the West Village, another neighborhood that I love. I would take the bicycle and why not, a nice visit to Central Park with a small break with a picnic and certainly no longer missing a delicious dinner in Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
As I said before, the great success of my career is me, but there are two important people in my life, the most important, who have supported me in this great adventure and continue to do so every single day: my parents. They are half of my success, giving me the most important support, the moral one. One day I will tell my story to the world with a book that I have already started writing but it is too early to tell this story because there are many other goals to achieve so it will be published at the right time.
