We had the good fortune of connecting with Parish and Tara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Parish and Tara, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Life means risk, baby. Without taking risks, you forfeit opportunities to grow. Waiting for others to give you an opportunity to advance is not our game. We wouldn’t have the body of work we have if we hadn’t taken risks.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are Iranian-American filmmakers. We are most proud of the fact that we’ve maintained our production company Renōvatiō for over ten years and have produced all of our films on our own terms. After working on more Hollywood sets than we care to count, when we decided to form our company we knew we would have to shoulder a lot more. It wasn’t always easy, because production costs quickly smack you in the face, and if the money isn’t there you have to get creative and wear way more hats than you ever considered. But at the end of the day, all that means is more experience and more command of your craft. We’re heading into our first feature and we can’t be more excited because we are absolutely ready for it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wherever the days takes us.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Our loved ones.
