We had the good fortune of connecting with Ania Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ania, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk has been a big part of my everyday life! By taking risks, my life has changed significantly.. I originally moved to Chicago, when I was 14 from Koszalin, Poland. Then eventually followed my dreams and ended in Los Angeles. Going to USC has been the best life choice and opportunity granted to me. Risk helps discover unforeseen opportunities for those who pursue their dreams while risk additionally builds character and determination!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from other musicians is the fact that I love music and do not see myself doing anything else. I am not only a singer, or a guitarist, but I am also an engineer, teacher, collaborator, entrepreneur, and producer. I love making music, playing music, listening to music, editing music, and being around musicians. I believe what sets me apart is my determination to achieve my dreams. I do believe we all could be negative at times, but in the end it is important to not give up. Keep going even if the light at the end of the tunnel seams very far. Nothing happened over night and things take time.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting LA, I would take them on a hike to Griffith Park or Laurel Canyon to show them the view of LA and the beautiful nature this city has to offer. Many visitors forget about the different aspects of Los Angeles since the city is mostly popularized by the entrainment industry. Los Angeles has so many different little neighborhood, bars, restaurants, along with so much different culture. Then after the hiking trip, I would bring my friend camping to the Los Angeles Natural Forest. We would bring instruments, write music, enjoy nature, share life stories and eat trader Joes produce. This camping spot is a perfect way to get away from the busy city and find fulfillment in small things.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother deserves an enormous shoutout, She sacrificed her life, career, and safety of her home to give me a better life by moving to America. She came here first by herself leaving me behind in Poland with my grandparents. She only had $20 in her pocket and found her first U.S. job at the airport. A few years later, after she got settled, she brought me here to learn english. Learning english made me become a international kid “raising me” from average Polish citizen. English is the key to opening up doors and opportunities. The language is the universal key to unlocking doors. Thank you so much Mom for everything you do and I am sorry there is days where I am ungrateful.
