We had the good fortune of connecting with Anisa Lucero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anisa, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve chosen to pursue an artistic career because it gives me the freedom to feed my creativity. Although I may not make as much money as I would working a 9-5, I’d rather put my time and energy into something I genuinely enjoy doing and allow myself to grow as a creative. One of my biggest fears is feeling like i’m boxed in or stuck, by giving myself creative freedom, I’m able to grow, and pursue things at my own pace.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As much as I love working in the industry, there are other aspects of my life that i’m incredibly proud of as well and would love to share. Aside from modeling, I’m currently a full-time student studying film and American Sign Language (ASL). Acting has been my lifelong dream, but growing up in a small town, I didn’t have many opportunities to pursue it. Now, I’m attending school to help make that dream a reality. I’m also studying ASL because I want to become an interpreter and help bridge the language barrier. I strongly believe that everyone has a voice and deserves to be heard.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I grew up in New Mexico, and it will forever have a special place in my heart. The state is rich in history and culture, which I love sharing with people who come to visit. One of my favorite events to take people to is the Balloon Fiesta, held in late autumn. New Mexico hosts the largest international balloon fiesta, attracting participants from all over the world. It’s such a surreal experience to be with so many people, standing in the middle of hundreds of balloons as they take off onto their journey. It’s a tradition to go every year, whether it’s with my family or with friends. It’s the only time of year I’ll happily wake up at 3am and stand in the freezing cold. Some of the coolest places I’ve seen people come from include Brazil, Japan, France, and Germany. I love how so many people from different places come together to share and celebrate a common interest.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to the friends and family who’ve encouraged me to pursue my passions and turn them into a successful career. I want to say thank you to everyone who’s supported me from day one and believed that this was something I could accomplish with dedication and a positive mindset. Thank you to everyone who believed in me even when things weren’t easy.
