Meet Anita Tak: Graphic & Web Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Anita Tak and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Hi! My name is Anita Tak and I am the owner of Star Rise Digital Media! I specialize in graphic design, branding, and web design services. Growing up, I always enjoyed pursuing creative projects. As a child, I loved drawing and creating stories. My parents would often tell me I had a big imagination and I conveyed that through my creative hobbies. I definitely got the creative personality from my mom—she paints and teaches art to kids virtually. And I got the business-oriented personality from my dad. When I attended high school, I enrolled in some graphic design courses and loved it! I immediately knew that was the field I wanted to pursue. I also felt happy that I found something I could enjoy while at the same time, make a career out of. In college, I started my first design internship. I felt fortunate to get a head-start on my career, before graduating. I then built up my experience by working at different design agencies. But what really fulfilled me was starting my own business. I wanted to be my own boss and have the ability to take charge of my schedule. I also hoped to have a creative business name that was memorable and related to how I treat my clients. So in 2017, I came up with the name, Star Rise Digital Media, with the tagline “Taking Your Brand Higher”. I treat my clients as their own unique “star” in their field. I try to find what makes each client stand out and capture that in every design I create—ultimately taking their brand higher amongst their competitors.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Star Rise Digital Media offers services in graphic design, web design, logos, marketing materials, branding, and social media design. The most exciting part about my business is seeing how my designs have impacted my clients. As a creative person, it’s an amazing feeling when your work has been published out into the world, and to know that you have positively contributed to another person. My business is the way it is today because of networking. When I first started in 2017, I attended a lot of networking events and had to put myself out there. One of the groups I attended met at 7 a.m. every Wednesday. Though I am a naturally introverted person, I tried to overcome this by getting to know more people and delivering presentations to a full room. I was able to get out of my comfort zone and learned so much about other entrepreneurs. I really enjoyed the process and love meeting new people! As the saying goes, life is short. So this process taught me to make the most of each day and embrace the experiences I have with each person I meet. We can learn so many valuable things from each other!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Universal Studios is definitely an obvious choice! But I also really enjoy walking through the Universal CityWalk. It has unique shops for tourists and love the layout. Another place I love visiting is Little Tokyo! If you appreciate Japanese culture, art, and architecture, this is a great place to visit as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my parents! Their love and support for me throughout my life has helped shape me into the person I am today. Also, shoutout to all the professionals I have met throughout the process of building my business! I’d particularly like to recognize the members of BNI (Business Networking International) and Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce. These wonderful people have helped me grow my business through referrals and word-of-mouth networking.
