We had the good fortune of connecting with Anndrea Villarreal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anndrea, what inspires you?
I am inspired by all facets of life; friends, family, nature, music, art, books, movies, you name it. Everything combines into little universes that I create clothes in, or has a characteristic I focus on and bring to life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From what my clients and models tell me, one of the biggest things that sets my designs apart from others is comfort, both when trying the items on and when wearing them– that I create an atmosphere that they feel totally taken care of even after purchases and shows, and that fills my heart right up.

It wasn’t easy to carve out the small space in the world for myself but I believe when you love something and when you feel a compulsion to create, that you can’t give up, you must give in to passion and keep going. This is my reason for waking up, for working multiple hustles to fund everything myself without investors, to create designs and express my passion through my own hands with no filters.

Something I learned over the past few years is that you should not deplete yourself to help others. It’s great to help people, to expand your table and invite people in, but guests should never steal or deplete your home. Remember that.

I’d like people to know that I’ve carved a space for myself, to carve a space for all of us in the long run and I’d love to have you on my journey with me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh gosh. An itinerary for a week in the valley? I would probably take them to the brewery district for craft beer or cocktails, then tower district to go dancing. During the week most likely the art museum, underground gardens, and thrift shopping, with dinners at sushi and vegetarian spots around town. Most likely plan a trip to Yosemite or Avila.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thank you to my family for being the best people I know, and more specifically for my parents for not only being themselves, but for being my friends and encouraging me to always be myself.
