We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Marini – Genzon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annie, what are you inspired by?

Life is my most significant source of inspiration!

My art is based on observations of nature, cycles in life, people, and experiences.

By referencing metaphors and symbolism, I create intense and emotional images conceived by rules and omissions, acceptance, and refusal, luring the viewer into their significance.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My work is who I am; I am a Visual Artist and an Educator.

As a child, I always had papers and pencils on my desk; I also had fiction books that inspired me to create something different from the real world; as a child, that was my universe.

In college, I embraced both the arts and the education areas; I knew that was my path; Education has the power to inspire a lifelong love for learning.

After many years of practice in these fields, I have a vision I can share with others who would like to pursue their passion; the following lines describe what I consider the pillars of my career.

Success is a subjective concept and can mean different things to different people.

Successful people have a solid commitment to lifelong learning. I seek new information, skills, and perspectives to stay relevant and adaptable in a constantly changing world.

Setting Goals: Setting clear and achievable goals provides a sense of direction and purpose. I set short-term and long-term goals to help me stay focused and motivated.

Consistency: Cultivating discipline and sticking to routines or habits, even when faced with challenges, help me maintain progress over the long term.

Networking: Building strong professional and personal relationships can open doors to opportunities, collaborations, and support that contribute to success.

Innovation: Thinking outside the box, being open to new ideas, and embracing innovation can lead to groundbreaking solutions and unique approaches to challenges.

Persistence: Tenacity and a refusal to give up in the face of difficulties. I keep pushing forward when those times arrive, even when things get tough.

Communication: Clear and concise communication is essential for conveying ideas, building relationships, and collaborating effectively.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I have many favorite spots: this city has so much to offer that sometimes it is hard to choose just one location! I love places surrounded by nature; I am attracted to trees and water bodies where I can walk, hike, or swim; these are perfect spots for meditation or sketching in my journal.

I also love to visit local museums, galleries, and international food restaurants and theatres, and most important, meet with family and friends!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

One of my mentors who have always been a great source of inspiration is the Sculptor Antonio Pujia, who was born in Southern, Italy and later established in Buenos Aires, Argentina.: he was one of my professors at Art School.

To finish my interview, I would like to share some general thoughts about art; Art is a form of expression that allows artists to convey their thoughts, emotions, and ideas in ways that may be difficult to express through words alone. It is a universal language that can transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, enabling communication between people from different backgrounds.

Sometimes, the power of art lies in its sheer aesthetic beauty. Art’s visual, auditory, or tactile enjoyment can enrich people’s lives and offer moments of respite from daily challenges.

Ultimately, the power of art lies in its ability to touch the human soul, provoke thought, create connections, and contribute to the ongoing development of culture and society. It plays a vital role in shaping our experiences and perceptions of the world.
