We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Glicken and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always known I wanted to make a bigger impact on the world but didn’t know how that would manifest. I spent 20 years in corporate America, working for great companies I was In alignment with. It wasn’t until my mom got cancer, and I became her caregiver, that I realized how I could do something more meaningful. At that moment I realized I wanted to help people to lead healthier lives. It took me a few years to figure out what that would look like but I knew it means starting my own business so I could do things on my terms. Once I determined what I wanted to do I jumped in and took massive action. In April, 2018 I opened my first brick and mortar integrative wellness franchise, OsteoStrong, in Los Angeles, CA. I opened it just 6 months after I decided to do it. Since then we’ve grown quickly (pre-covid). Without a doubt, we’ve been so successful because of our strong “why” behind the business. When you care more about your customer than your product you will always succeed.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
OsteoStrong is an integrative wellness center that focuses on bones, joints, muscles and immunity. Our proprietary technology increases bone and muscle density and reduces joint & back pain through our quick, once-a-week program that works for people of all ages and impacts the entire body.. We strive to heal and positively impact the lifestyle of all our members, enabling them to work hard and play harder. Our recovery modalities such as BioCharger, JOOVV red light therapy, NormaTec compression, localized Cryotherapy, and PEMF mats promote healing and optimization on every level – from energetic to physical. Our cutting-edge modalities focus on boosting immunity and overall vitality and well-being. OsteoStrong empowers people of all ages to feel good in their bodies and lead active lives. I believe that everyone deserves to live in a healthy body and that we have the power to take our health into our own hands and age well! 50 is the new 30 and I’m determined to help people experience that in their own bodies! There are so many incredible tools out there to support people and we are excited to bring some of them to our LA community. Our company has grown to where it is because our tools work, we care about our clients and we are always striving to bring them the best products and services. Covid has been a huge challenge for us as it has for many other businesses. Many of our clients tell us that OsteoStrong is the only thing they do other than go to the grocery store these days. Seeing the smiles on our customers’ faces and hearing about what they’ve achieved since working with us is why I do what I do. Knowing that we are making a difference in the quality of people’s lives is everything.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m so excited to show my friend around since everything is open again post covid! It will be a mixture of health optimization, delicious food, nature, and fun focusing on everything Mar Vista and Venice have to offer. We’d start out going to the beach and taking a walk to ground and breathe fresh air after being on a plane. Here are some highlights for the rest of the week: – Pause Float studio for a float and an infrared sauna and cold plunge. – OsteoStrong for a bone building session, res light therapy and charge up our cells with the BioCharger – we will hit F45 Culver City for a couple outdoor functional fitness classes during the week. – What trip isn’t complete without some neurofeedback at Peak Brain Institute to dial in our brain health. – We will grab a delicious lunch at Lodge Bread Co. And get our nails done at Maalou Nail Salon. – Head back to our place for a rest and a walk with the 🐶 dogs. – We will grab dinner at some of my favorite spots during the week: Scopa, Felix, Hatchet Hall, Belcampo Meats, Nueva, and Tasting Kitchen. – one night we will go see Little Dragon perform at the Hollywood Palladium and will get dinner at Petit Trois beforehand. – We will go for a hike at Runyon Canyon, then drive to Malibu and have lunch at Malibu Farms out on the pier. – Jazz night or Latin night at LACMA with a picnic can’t be missed. – No trip to LA is complete without an evening at Magic Castle to see some magic. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I learned about OsteoStrong at a Tony Robbins event, Unleash The Power Within. He helped me to see that life is always happening for me, not to me and that I’m in control of my destiny. Tony also opened me up even more to the concept that the more we give in life, “ Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more” – Tony Robbins
